circuit design software..

been looking at few circuit creating software online... anyone use or have any good ones that they use/recommend? and are they really useful or just a waste of time?

Cadsoft Eagle is quite popular, due to the huge library of parts available. Many supplier provide Eagle libraries of their inventory.

The free version is limited to PCB of 100mm x 80mm but fine for most needs.

It's a bit counter intuitive and takes some perseverance to learn, but I've just done so in a few days to a decent standard.

The Sparkfun Eagle tutorials are a perfect place to start.

There is also Fritzing, but I actually didn't get on with it as well as I am now doing with Eagle, even though it was easier to pick up and use straight away.

I use mostly ltspice: easy to use, easy to setup and takes little space.

When I need to explore more, I use orcad then, and powerpcb for layout.

I have seen people using micro-cap and tina.

Also, Arduino schematics are available in eagle format exclusively.

There is also KiCad, which is a GNU licenced program.
This is not that well known so getting support for it is limited.

i ask because someone mentioned at work to me: http://fritzing.org/ scroll down to see the vid...

Fritzing was mentioned in the first response.
It is also under GNU license.
The fun about Fritzing is that you can build your hardware on to a virtual breadboard, and the program will generate schematics for that.
It is also possible to design your print with it.
I just tried that, have Fritzing since i started playing with Arduino stuff e few months back.
So for small stuff, Fritzing is easy to get started with, i don't know about more advanced functions.

i know it was mentioned, i'm just saying the reason i asked on here was because that was mentioned to me at work - i wanted to see what you guys use/used.. i'm glad task confirmed the software.
