Mouse sensor KA2.B D1032CB3 - Help?

Hello everyone,
I ordered a bunch (10) of $2 mice hoping it would contain a A2610 sensor.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171249515424

The chip would be ideal as I will build robots with kids at a local school after class, and the sensor could be nice to experiment. Maybe very simple image processing, flow-sensor, speed encoder, line follower (instead of LDR), capturing raw images, and perhaps a very very simple ping-pong-ball detection (find brightest pixel on dark carpet).
If there is no chance to use the chips, they could still replace the old ps/2 ball mice.

Before purchasing I searched and found a picture of one of these cracked open on Instructables, and it looked like the right IC (little sun and "A" where visible on the small image).

But I suppose these cheap products change frequently.

The sensor turned out to be this one:

Unfortunately I was unable to find any information on it.

Does anyone have info on the chip, how to read the data?
i have just started with Arduino a few Weeks ago, "regular" sensor modules and circuits are no problem, but working with an unknown IC is something I can't do.

If someone could help me, that would be amazing. If needed, I would send out one/two of these mice.
I am also thankful for any recommendations!

I know the a2610 can be found on Aliexpress, but having it on a board with resonator and such would be neat to hack into, showing my students how you can hack into things with Arduino, too. Also, I don't need 50 pieces (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-50PCS-A2610-A2388/1888275211.html)

If all fails, I can put the other parts to good use or use the mice, as mentioned.

Ciao!

If you translate this page - http://taigelun888.cn.makepolo.com/product/100247479103.html - (and several others), there's a hint that KA2 might be a compatible replacement for A2636 and A2637 if that's any help.

I couldn't find out much info about either, except for references to a company called Apexone and a datasheet for A2639, which may be a USB version of one of these chips.

Hello Roger,

thank you very much for the information!
Seems like a lot of sites mention the compatibility (http://beneye.com/sell/show-78127.html, http://beneye.com/sell/show-93159.html) I hope it does not refer to the format only  It would be neat if it would work.

I did notice there's no crystal/resonator and the IC directly communicates vis USB.

I hope I will have time at the weekend to experiment with it. I have also emailed a vendor at Aliexpress that sells other ka2 chips, hoping to receive a datasheet or source that refers to their other chips as well.

Avast throws a dozen alerts on that page, just for anyone considering checking, be warned
