How do I test weather an IR lED works - with arduino!

My future aim is to build a sensor array - I used the blink example - but nothing really happens to the led when I look through the camera - also can anyone tell me what resistor should i connect with the led to see if it works?

PS - I am very new to arduino - this is my first time.

Use a 330R resistor and you won't go far wrong.
If you can't see it in a camera is is not working

thank you so much - and can you please tell me about how to use a 9 volt battery along with an IR LED.

What do you want it to do?

Just connect the battery to the resistor and LED, same value, to see it work in your camera. If it doesn't work then either it is the wrong way round or you have blown it.
