Is it possible to implement a new simple function to print to an LCD from memory (not RAM) without having to use the complicated progmem function?  like a simple

memory.print("XXXX");

I have a library someone else wrote that does that and it saves tons of RAM withough having to use progmem directly.

The only wait do do that is using PROGMEM in the declaration and then pgm_read_byte_near, so its pretty simple to use....

I recognize all of those words, but I don't think that I've ever seen them used in that order before. That particular order did not convey much to me.

I don't know if it will work with an LCD but the Flash Library works with Serial and makes embedding string constants very simple...
