Hi,
I am trying to connect my arduino to my HP pavilion dv7 laptop. I am unable to select a serial port. I followed the instructions on the forum, but when I go into my devices, there are not "ports" recognized, and my Arduino Is listed as an "unidentified device." The computer is powering the arduino, and it has worked on a mac, so I know it is not broken.
Any advice?
Steps to install the Arduino drivers in Windows:
Right click the Unknown Device in Device Manager
Select Update Driver Software
Select Browse my computer for software
Click Browse button
Select the Drivers folder under the location of your Arduino software installation. (Do not select the FTDI folder inside the Drivers folder)
Click OK
Click Next
I had a simialar problem and the method posted above worked perfectly. Give it a try for sure.
