This has probably been approached many times before.

The book "Getting Started 3RD Edition", the Homepage website etc.

When clicking on the highlighted text or a link to another page or external website, they mostly all seem to open in the same window. In order to go back to where you first started, you have to click backwards, which can be a loooong way back (I get sidetracked very easily!). Instead of keeping the page where you first started, and opening in a new window. If you happen to close (X) the window you are in, you loose all that sidetracking, plus the original page.

I guess I'm so used to Mr. Google, or maybe I'm mistaken and got sidetracked !!!!

It's not clear what that means. Are you talking about the website for some book or are you talking about this website?

If you hold the Ctrl button when you click then it will open in a new tab.

Using Firefox if I right-click on a link it gives me the options to open-link-in-new-tab and open-link-in-new-window
