has anyone tried to get this kind ofdisplay working.

I have just destroyed a dvd player for the plugs, leds etc and wonder if this unit (mine is similar but not quite the same) could be run from an arduino. To look at the number of pins I would say it needs some form of shift register but can't see one.
Any body got any ideas?
Does your LCD have any exposed IC?
no its just the glass wafers in a frame soldered at right angles to the board. I have looked at the circuit on the area of the board around the display and can't see anything that looks like a shift register.
