Buying bare Atmel Chips?

I want to have several Atmega328 chips available for various projects.

To buy them as cheap as possible (in the Uk, low volume), I want them as blank (no bootloader) chips and program them myself.

Any cheaper than this guy?

I would rather buy 5 to start with.

Thanks.

So that guy is charging £1.999 each in quantity 10. At Farnell the price is £1.71 each in quantity 10:

And that's the first place I checked. Perhaps other distributors will have even lower prices. And you might find an office near you where you can buy them over the counter.

Add sales tax (VAT) and thats £20.52 for 10 before shipping.

Yes, add VAT to that and Farnell are more expensive.
And the first link also included crystals and caps and the chips were bootloaded if that's worth anything.

You need to start looking at far east suppliers to get the price down below that. You can pick 5 up for about £8 if you shop about, but without caps and crystals. The same UK supplier will sell you a pack of 5 for £13, including postage & crystals if you don't want to go the far east route.

I`m sorted for processors now.

I`d be curious to know if any of the (Uk) Ebay sellers or shop owners lurk here.

Maybe they could offer a discount for posting in the forum?
