Help configuring Nano .v3: can't upload programs on Mac

I have two Arduino Nano v. 3 boards and am trying to get them to work. I am using a new MacMini running OS X 10.7.3. I have downloaded the FTDIUSBSerialDriver_10_4_10_5_10_6_10_7.

When I setup to upload the "Blink" test program, I plug in the USB cable to the Nano, from Tools>Board choose the Arduino Nano /w ATmega328, choose /dev/tty.usbserial-11CP0616. When I click the Upload button, the upload fails and I get the following message:
avrdude:stk500-recv():programmer is not responding.

This happens with both Nanos I've tried.

At this point, I'm lost.

For what it's worth, I have also tried an Uno R3 with y new MacMini and it works fine.

Any suggestions?
