Exotic Stepper Motor ICs!!

In my ongoing quest for true stepper motor control, i requested some ICs from Allegro and to my surprise, i just received them.

The problem I have now is that my few circuit making skills all require the breadboard and these chips don't fit!!

I recognise one, it is a 24-pin SOIC package.

The other one is wierd. Here is its web page ....

Is there some adapter for using these chips with a breadboard??

Or is there some other good secret simple way to use them??

Thanks!!

Hi Jonathan,

Jameco has a snap-off board that has a few dozen SMT adapters on it.. for a mere $45 USD... you might have to look through the catalogue to figure out which board will do the trick, as they have several different models. Once you get them set up they are pretty handy, as you have each tiny smd part mounted on a robust carrier board with .1" pins.

In general, SMD parts are a headache unless you are doing PCB's for them, in which case they are a dream!

Hey, out of curiosity, what country is your stepper-motor-experiments-lab in?

Daniel

The stepper motor lab is located in the Far East (corner of my bedroom! in central London).

Its a sophisticated setup!!
