reading a microphone and tone recognition

any progress on the tutorial "read a pre-amplified microphone" ?

i'd like to be able to analog read with arduino a condensor mic that is amped through a 741 ic. would it be possible to do tone recognition with such a setup?

any help is greatly appreciated.
