My Arduino UNO getting extremely hot

My Arduino UNO is getting very hot. A mean extremely hot. The area between USB and Power connection. But uploading function works fine. I have not try to connect it for a long time because I am afraid that it will fry. What is wrong? Anyone, please...?

Usually a symptom of too much current draw from stuff you have connected when running on the DC jack with an enthusiastic voltage on the power supply. If its happening on USB power with nothing connected, you've got a sick Arduino.

 very bad news. It's happening when connected via USB. One more question. Is it going to blow up my iMac if it still will be connected?

I don 't know, but I wouldn't be connecting it to find out.

Have you figured out a solution for this exact same problem? But with my arduino it won't even turn on when I plug it in via USB but it does heat up, instantly, as soon as I turn it on.

As I said in reply #1, if you haven't got anything connected to the Arduino, its sick. You could try swapping out the 328 chip if its a removable one.
