my teacher says this is a syntax error and i have to "look it up"

Your teacher says to look it up because then you will learn from the experience.  Don't be lazy and just hit up a forum to explain it to you.  You're only robbing yourself.  If you do want to do it this way then please don't be one of those people who hits the real world and gets mad because their degree doesn't help them get a job.  You are taking the job-getting part of your diploma and throwing it away by not putting in the effort.

Although C error messages are notoriously cryptic, if you pull apart this one you'll find that it's telling you your problem openly.
So two neutrinos went into a bar.  Nothing happened.  They were just passing through.
