Neon Lighting

I've been looking around ogilumen.com. They sell soviet-style neon lamps and nixie tube. I was thinking about the neon bar graph, but the info sheet isn't very helpful as to power. Should I power it with 125VAC (mains) or 125VDC (boost converter).

Thanks!

"Please send any queries or issues regarding product details to OGI LUMEN at: opensource@ogilumen.com"

The schematic they provide calls for a 0-150v DC regulated power supply.

So I'll need to buy their overpriced $60 boost converter. Oh well...
Thanks a lot!

Any auto converter +12V to AC you can find for $10 around will be even better.
Just open it up and remove 4 transistors bridge, that form AC 60Hz.

What's that?

Sorry, my english, the right name "car dc to ac inverter".
You even don't have to remove a bridge, just connect a wire in front of it.
Basically what this device doing, it boost up DC up to +150 - +230V
using transformer , and generate 60Hz AC after that.

As you can see 9$ provide 75W, or up to 500 mA HV DC.

OK. Thanks!

!!!!!
Rectify mains voltage w/ HV diodes!

Cheap!

Yes, I understand. but what if I used a 1:1 transformer?

Okey dokey. Thanks a bunch. I think I'll hold off for a while w/ high voltages.
