Idea: Nokia 3310 LCD screen

I have found many projects using the LCD screen of the popular Nokia 3310 phone, on the internet.
I was worrying about wether it would be hard to interface it with the Arduino board ...

I found that piece of software: http://www.microsyl.com/nokialcd/nokialcd.html
which is C language and I guess related to AVR microcontrollers, but I have no idea about the probability to be able to run that code on Arduino, altough I have found posts on the forum talking about the PORT B, not understanding really what it consisted in !

Could it be possible to adapt this code to Arduino ?
If so, it would be a great alternative to standard LCD text displays, since it can display not only text but also pictures.

Has anyone ever tried to interface microcontrollers (and more specifically, Arduino) with this ?

Any suggestion will be appreciated ...
