One can only hope. My comments were not hateful though. If you found them infuriating that's because you're not being honest with yourself or anyone for that matter.

You can. Once you think that way, you will.
lets just say this. unless you have been through what i have been through, you wouldn't know how hard it is to go out in public, believing that everybody hates you for what you used to be, and fearing an attack from any number of them, at any given moment. when i go out in public, i do hear what others say about me. when i was in Hammond Lumber Co. in Belgrade Maine, despite my father and i giving a lot of business to HLC, i heard the cashier saying crap about me behind my back. i would have spoken to their supervisor, but i didn't want any further crap. every one of my former friends has long since "abandoned ship", and i can hear them talking about me when i happen to see them in the store, or wherever. i hate and fear going out in public sometimes, just in anticipation of not wanting to hear the bullying. i don't seek out friends, because i know they will drop me like a burning coal. for those that have not lived life as i have, it is easy to claim i am just making excuses. have you, or anybody ever curled up in the fetal position at night, having woken from a nightmare, and literally watched the door, thinking somebody on the other side is waiting for you to go to sleep, so they can kill you?

how is that for honesty?

yes, i have issues, and yes, they control my life, despite medication/therapy/etc...
once, the paranoia was so bad i was an inpatient in a mental health facility. they gave me Haldol to calm me down. after sleeping for two days, sure, the paranoia was gone. but so was my ability to have a complete thought. much like a Ham Radio with a wandering VFO. that is a state of mind i never want again. i would rather have the paranoia. ;)

Hi mate,

You might need some Vitamin D, the stuff that is produced when you are in sunlight.

I remember seeing a picture many years ago that showed some Russian kids standing in UV light, protecton goggles on ofcourse.
Because they were growing up in an area of the USSR that was near or above the arctic circle and were not getting enough of the good UV for Vitamin D production.

Cabin fever of course is not good either.

Don't be a stranger mate...

I'm off to bed,20C here just after midnight, going for 32C today (Friday).

Just had the Kia serviced, all filters and fluids, goes like the clappers and AC is great now new belts.

G'dnight all...... :smiley-sleep: :smiley-sleep: :smiley-sleep:
I have a Black Light, would that help you think? i have to find it though.

i try not to be a stranger, though i can't help just being strange. ;)

the problem isn't population density. the problem is that the area paper mill shut down. now everybody that can swing a hammer, thinks they are a carpenter. so the trade has become saturated.
So...Do something they can't do.  All that messing around with useless crap has taught you some skills.  You have talents and they have a worth.

In any decent size population you are going to find a bunch of people over 50, wanting some help with their computers.  Who are probably sick of paying teenagers down at Best Buy (wherever) to patronise them.  You could offer these people a more personalised service.

There will be a bunch of micro-businesses who would like to improve their websites but can't afford to pay a professional web designer.  Heck, I just paid $750 for a couple Word Press pages and they were left half done.

You're a carpenter, carve yourself a niche :D

i think what helps the most, is that anyone would consider me a part of a club they are a member of. ;) :D

i just had some chocolate, and it has many psychological benefits. particularly when you mash all the foil wrappers into a ball, and watch as the cat goes completely bonkers with it. batting it around, yowling and growling, and carrying on. :D

For a split second I thought you were going to say put the foil on your head to stop the Aliens from reading your mind.
Mine doesn't work, Marvin still occasionally appears on my TV.

Or is that just the TV repeating... repeating... repeating... repeating... repeating...
Damn....
Everything runs on smoke, let the smoke out, it stops running....

tried the foil hat. instead of keeping the aliens out of my head, it kept me in my head. ;)

Hi,
I have VERY DARK Chocolate, 85% or better.

Milk Chocolate has more of a physical (increase in body mass) rather than physiological effect on me.

So you use a foil hat if you want to REFLECT on your past?  :) :o :) :o :)

something like that. and don't ground the foil, it just cancels the effect all-together. (ok, this joke sounded better in my head. perhaps i should have tried the foil hat...)

Twisted pairs of foil work best.
A creaking creeping shadow
stiff against the freezing fog
glares at a tickless watch.

Time has failed him -- all things shall pass.

we have a cat, though that doesn't solve the walking part, it prevents the dog part, and mother won't approve of a dog...

i don't care much for picking up, and carrying around dog crap. so i am rather incompatible with dogs. ;)
Cats and dogs can get on fine, especially if the dog is the newcomer, it is a risk though.
Collecting dog crap is a pain, but it keeps the hands warm.

.... i just have a bunch of personal issues to deal with. ;)
I don't want to push the dog thing, but you should think about it and perhaps discuss it with whoever you see. A friendly, cute, dog makes a great companion. Petting and playing with a dog is tremendously relaxing. As long as you look after it well a dog will give you total loyalty and it may help you with your issues.

i spotted a makers club a while back, but it was filled with kids. i don't really have the patience to deal with kids. besides, i don't think it would be a good idea for a 38 year old man to join an apparently kids club.

Some places have "Men's sheds". I think it tends to be older folk that use them and they would probably welcome younger people with skills. The shed might not be that busy.

no, but the crap somebody sent to me through my server was beyond hateful.
There is no excuse for that kind of behaviour.

I agree about Vitamin D. A lot of people in northern climes, perhaps most of them, are deficient in the winter months. The easiest way to get it is Vitamin D pills they are dirt cheap.

Did Groucho Marx say "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member"?

That is pretty hard core. I max out at about 70-75%. It strange, my desire for chocolate can be quite strong at times and then it can go for long periods.

Men's Sheds are an excellent idea, adult level membership and a variety of interests and skill scope.
I'm like that too, sometimes I look forward to a good bit of 85%, then go for ages before the craving starts again.
Great chocolate to have with coffee.
