If it looks familiar, it's based on an earlier board I designed which used the Atmega328, but that processor was under-powered for driving this display (the 2K of RAM was a major limitation), so once the Zero became available, I designed the Neutrino to learn its ins and outs, and then redesigned this board and rechristened it the Pixel!

Are you saying you'd like female headers?
Is there some reason you are unable to solder them on there yourself? Not including headers gives you more options and makes it cheaper to ship the boards since they're flat.
Are you saying you'd like them in the exact same layout as the UNO/ZERO?

This board is quite a bit smaller than a Zero and it's unknown which shields and how many of them are directly compatible with the Zero.
Yep, I was thinking shields. I did not think it was smaller than the Zero...
I understand (now) that the Zero serial bootloader is going to the onboard debug chip and I really wanted that to go to the same RX/TX pins the AVR bootloader is using, so the zero pinout is definitely not what I want after all. I am trying to use Open Software and Hardware, but it is also important that I can upload firmware while the embedded stuff stays hidden in its protective enclosure in the garden. Anyway, it is looking like I will need to make an M0+ board with the debug serial port at the location I am expecting if I want to upload firmware through the shield I'm working on (a future project I guess).
