I think that the software page for arduino should remind the user to install the latest FTDI driver, perhaps with a link to the driver
Also, the Arduino 009 software should warn the user if the serial port isnt selected. Ie. the first time it starts, if you hit "upload" it should pop up a dialog that says "You haven't selected a serial port that the Arduino is connected to!" Or if you plug in a different arduino.
I can do the first one if there's some way to get a wiki login. I can also do the second one if you're busy.
