Sainsmart LCD MegaShield and RTC module

Hi All,

I've got an Arduino mega with a Sainsmart LCD megashield which I'm using for a project. Everything works fine except if I connect up a Tiny RTC module (to pins 20 & 21) to the shield the RTC doesn't work. If I remove the shield and connect the RTC to the same pins directly on the Arduino mega board it works.

Has anybody ever used the sainsmart LCD shield with an RTC successfully before?

Thanks!

There's a possibility that even somebody who has not used that shield before could help you ... but you are more likely to get such help if you post links to some information about the shield and the RTC module.

Don

Sure, the shield and RTC were purchased from ebay and here are the links to them:

From what I saw on their eBay page, the shield has no connection to mega except for power and connection only for the display. How did you connect the RTC while the display shield is on MEGA, setup pictures?

Ditto what Liudr said. I just started to wire one up to see what happens when I realised that I can't easily get to the 5 volt connection on the Mega as the connection board is plugged into it.

Invest a few dollars on these female headers with long pins. You will be glad.
