What's in a name?

So, I recently had (Well, OK... my wife did the "Had'ing) my first child.

His name?

Atom Tesla.

I think that is an awesomely cool name. I often get "Like the band?" or "Like the car?" when I tell people what his name is.

I just figured I would throw that out there.... on here where folks are more likely to get it, LOL.

So, what do you think..... cool name, or have I scarred him for life?

Named after two cars?

"Magneto Tesla" sounds more cool and "bad ass"... kids in the playground wouldn't dare bully him.

Plus besides, Tesla worked with magnets, not atoms

But Atoms are petrol, but Tesla battery

The Ariel Atom is awesome! I want one.

"Adam" would've worked just as well, without the associated difficulties of having to constantly spell his name, when people write "Adam".

How well does Atom Tesla go with your last name?

We used to drive by Chenango Bridge in NY

to visit the relatives. I lobbied for Chenango, figured nickname of Chenango Kid, got shot down.

Everyone is too polite. You've scarred him for life.

He'll probably turn out tough as nails though.

What's in a name?

typically letters

Last name is Ollom, part of why we picked Atom is we just thought it sounded good with the whole thing. Could have used Adam.... but then it would be boring.

(Oddly enough we did find another Tesla Ollom (No idea of the middle name) out there in the cast of a community youth theater.)

I kind of figure it this way.... up until he's 8 or 9 the kids won't really know it's unusual. 9-18... it doesn't really matter what the name is, they will always come up with something to tease a kid about. 18+ and he'll start liking not having a cookie cutter name. (We already have a pickup line for him...... "Hi, I'm Atom..... like the bomb."

Although the Ariel Atom had nothing to do with the choice, I am a huge Top Gear fan and I do totally want one, LOL.

Ohh yeah.... we do call him Boomer.

I think that is an awesomely cool name.

Name your kid for his/her benefit, not yours.

I used to work with a guy named Richard Whacker - we all wondered what his parents were thinking when naming him.
