What is the hardware connections and steps to be taken to put the Arduino Mega 2560 into DFU mode? Please show which pins/points are to be connected where with reference to this diagram:

    I'm working on an accelerometer based mouse project and right now facing some difficulties in making the Arduino appear as an HID device. From the playground section of the Arduino page, I came across this link
This link shows how to make the Arduino appear as a USB HID mouse device. The problem is that I cannot get the Arduino in DFU mode in the first place. The Arduino I'm using is a Roboduino which is shown in the following link:
Please specify where  I can find the HWB line that has to be grounded along with the reset pin for this Arduino. Is it possible to get this Arduino to DFU mode? If not how else can I program the chip ATMEGA 168-20PU to behave like a USB Mouse ? Or is it better if I buy a UNO and then do the DFU programming part?

One more question that baffles me is once I upload the firmware for the USB mouse onto the ATMEGA 168 chip will I still be able to upload sketches onto the Arduino?? Because the bootloader program that previously existed must have obviously been overwritten right?

I'm sorry if my doubts sound silly. I'm just a new kid on the block. Please point out every single mistake of mine, I'd be grateful, thanks:)

  As a final year engineering project our group has opted to design an "accelerometer based mouse" using an Arduino board. As it is the beginning of our project we have more questions than answers. We would like to be given directions in which to head towards, topics that need to be covered in order make this project a reality.

So far, we have managed to procure an accelerometer MMA7361 breakout board and connected it to the Arduino and have managed to obtain readings on the output serial monitor. We are considering whether to use the arduino as a HID device or use the default FTDI chips. Please let us know what to choose and how to choose it. A few links on the subject would also do a world of good. One more thing is the breakout board we have ordered from sparkfun.
The question is do we have to add capacitors as mentioned in the schematic or can we directly connect the accelerometer to the Arduino without any external components?

This is our first instance of using the Arduino and hence we request you people to pardon us if we have made any mistakes in asking the question.
