Strange, I have nothing but good things to say about SparkFun.  I've had one problem with an order which they handled very elegantly. I have a feeling this is a isolated incident that they would handle through emails to them directly.

Very cool project.  Keep us updated if you add to it.

Most of the programs Google has obviously plagiated/stolen/whatever are free in their original version, and without ads..

What proof do you have to make claims like that?  In reality, google generally buys these small programs and absorbs them.  If I don't like the ads put into them to make them free, I just don't use them.  BTW, I believe Chrome is an open source app.

If AVG was doing that to their systems they were using it incorrectly or they got a bogus copy.

Agreed.  I've been using it for several years with no issues (and no viruses).  While it has fattened up in the latest version, if you are running a halfway decent rig you'll be fine.  I've also uninstalled it with no issues.  There are a couple of other free ones out there that I've heard are decent, but AVG has not given me any reason to switch.  There are a couple of things you may want to tweak on it, but hey it's free!

MaximumPC recently recommended AviraAntivir saying

AntiVir's biggest strength lies in its detection rate. It's the only scanner in our roundup to triumph with a near clean sweep during Virus Bulletin's latest testing, and it did so without reporting any false positives. That's impressive. AntiVir performed equally well in our Lab, as long as we didn't attempt to install spyware or hijack the browser.

If you can live with the popup ad AntiVir forces you to view each time a scheduled update is performed, you'll be rewarded with a potent, no-cost AV scanner. Move over AVG, we have a new favorite freebie.

So, that one may be worth a shot if you can live with the popup.

Good Luck!

BTW, Ubuntu is a flavor of Linux  smiley-wink

I wouldn't worry too much, Spiff has always sent my stuff.  It does take quite a while for it to get across the border though.

Sorry to hear it doesn't work under Linux, I should have specified that I am using Windows.  I really do hope it gets fixed soon even though I don't even think about hitting the X anymore.

For what it's worth, if you always remember to close with ctrl-q it will remember your window size and position for multiple windows.
