1  Using Arduino / General Electronics / Infrared Emitter on: October 13, 2012, 05:20:19 am
Hi,

I'm looking for the best IR Emitter to use with an Arduino Uno for remote control of IR appliances.

I've already got two YH70s from Maplin (www.maplin.co.uk/high-power-infrared-emitting-diode-2253), but their range/emitting distance isn't that great and they are quite directional.

I don't mind having to buy multiple emitters to create a better/stronger field.  The more powerful the better (I'd ideally like to flood the room with IR, so that IR appliances can be controlled regardless of where they are in the room).

Thanks

Thanks everyone.

Just to confirm - I am using it to connect to the Arduino's USB port.

I just wanted to make sure that 1 amp wasn't going to do any damage.  I've only been able to find out that a PC USB port outputs up to 0.5 amps to the Arduino, so wanted to check that doubling it wouldn't be too much for it.

Hi,

I have a maplin USB power adaptor (Code: N69CX).  Is it OK to power my Arduino with this?

On the packet if says the Voltage is 5V and the Current is 1.0A.

Thanks
