Using Arduino / Project Guidance / Controlling a heater

Hey, guys. I'd like to be able to control an immersion heater's power, without modifying the heater itself. I live in the US, so I believe wall power is supplied at 110VAC. What hardware is recommended? Shields are much preferred, if possible.

Hi, guys. I have garage door obstruction transmitting and receiving "eyes" that I was given. How would I go about reading the receiving eye?

I might run my copy of Aerosmith on PCSX2 after modding the neck texture to white. When my good PC with Pixel Shader 2 is working again, I will give it a try.

Hi guys. I am (as are many other people) trying to build a Guitar Hero Aerosmith bot. I was wondering if you have any ideas on pre-made software for Windows, or if i will have to do a bit of programming. I tried RoboRealm, but I could not get it to detect the notes.

I have an external microcontroller programmer. Could I possible just purchase an ATmega128, upload the Arduino bootloader, and write a sketch to it without an Arduino board?

I know about the stability of resonators, so I chose caps and a crystal. I was wondering whether I should include a breadboard. Realize that these will cost more than $7, but not much more, as I am including LEDs, caps, resistors, and probably a breadboard. Also, I do not know how he could afford $7 when shipping is $3 for 13 oz or less within the US. I will try to get the lowest prices for all of us, but it will still be cheap compared to the Demu(IDon'tSpeakFrench)nove. If you can think of anything else it would be good to add, post it here.

I edited my first post. Also, I assume this is all that is needed. If you see anything that could be missing, please let me know. Also, is there a HEX file of the bootloader that I could use to write using my external programmer(serial)?
