well digikey will sell you some metal film ones for around 2 bucks per 100, me I dont like buying from ebay whenever possible, even if you dont get screwed its typically still kinda junky

for example the 328 i bought and it came in a paper envelope with its (bent) pins mashed into plain white styrofoam, that was worth the dollar I saved (stupid thing can barley go into a socket)

its really got to be a special deal that no real supplier can match, and even then most of these yahoos have no clue what their doing so you might get something wrong and try and argue with someone whom is under the impression they are god due to their blackmailed high rating, or just flat out screwed over

Well, if you're not going to give the buyer a chance to fix an error that... might be a seller error...

there fixed that for you, remember this is the 21st century, the customer is always stupid and always wrong, how dare you even question the seller, they are just perfect little angles trying to scrape up a buck to feed their children

wont someone think of the children?

I once had a coat hanger go though a deck shoe, though my foot and out the other side though a layer of canvas, stuff happens  smiley-wink

I bring that up cause it sounds like something similar to 98's fence wound

you cant directly you have to host them somewhere then link using the img tags (ie I use my own host, someone else may use photobucket)

so how did you manage to do that? I feel your pain, we were putting a piano on a portable stage one day (back when I moved pianos and before I started working at a musical instrument manufacture) and all was good till the weight of the piano was released from the ramp

that joker shot me and another 200lb dude about 6 inches up in the air like a large leaf spring, when we came down the ramp was not on the edge of the aluminum stage anymore

but my shin was, yea 3 chunks of flesh removed down to the bone and a split second later...

I should have gotten stitches, but I was in my early 20's and being cheap, those jokers bleed for well over a month (mind you first aid is one of my expertise, I dont advise you to handle it yourself, an infection from a wound like that could cause you much more damage) , and the scars in my shin still measure a 1/16th inch deep 7 years later

weird, I tried it with no chip and all different ways you could jumper them and none would work

hyperterm, arduino serial monitor, putty, and linux console, never once saw an echo

(voodoo)

but before going down that path I did replace the temp monitor demo with a plain blink led program, wonder if that would have anything to do with it

interesting cause as stated before it didnt do jack for me in a loopback

wait, did you leave the MSP430 in its socket?

the only realistic way I can see from what I have learned about this voodoo board to use this as a usb <> serial is to find the rx and tx pins leading from the usb device to the mcu, cut them and solder on new wires

voltage is easy enough the little voltage regulator has 5v in and ground on pairs of pins giving you a larger target

I think you should be able to pull off serial (3.6V) off of the launchpad pins labeled RXD and TXD,

well (and I have been poking at this thing for well over a month now) the very first thing I did was jumper RXD and TXD together to form a loop back and brought it up in a serial terminal, you could send stuff to it all day long but it would never echo back

there is some voodoo going on with the TI software (which is a problem for a system) that QFP msp chip has multiple functions and I believe that unless you address it and tell it "yo be a serial port" it isnt going to be, its default state is the emulator, similarly its default programming seems to be jtag and not serial
3475  Forum 2005-2010 (read only) / Bar Sport / Re: Looking for the cheapest USB-Serial (TTL) around on: August 19, 2010, 02:45:17 pm
already tried doesnt work

usb port <> ti usb chip <> another msp which is doing all the emulation / jtag crap <> you target chip via its own serial connection
(when you plug a launch pad in your talking to a mcu thats talking to your target mcu via its own separated (soft?) serial port )

ok so cut off the extra QFP msp chip, now you just lost clock to the ti usb chip as there is only 1 12mhz crystal on board, that goes to the other mcu, which is then piped out of a pin on that same mcu to the usb chip

ok crap, do you reprogram the ti usb chip so it will drive a crystal? or do you make a 12mhz clock source

at that point it hit the trash

if you want to get a 12mhz crystal oscillator you can cut off the larger of the 2 chips and attach it to the ti usb chip, but your soldering leads that make 30guage wirewrap look large

that is a image of our digital piano pedal switches (im still at work and they gave me a camera, the fools!)

I have no idea what the part number is as they come as an assembly from a company called n-code (which you wont find anywhere online) but the good news is that they are coming from east of you Europe so its not some funky custom made thing only found in the states

otherwise another common practice is to use reed switches and magnets
3477  Forum 2005-2010 (read only) / Bar Sport / Re: Need help finding a silent switch! on: August 27, 2010, 04:03:32 pm
we use silent microswitches for our digital piano pedals .. but there is no marking on the switches besides GAE 8

yea but the whole point of batch pcb is that they are lumped in a batch with everyone elses pcb before they are shipped off to china

so lets say you and I both send in a board at the exact same time, we both pay the same price for the same service when they return I get one copy you get 2

its kinda shitty for someone isnt it

and its probally not errors, its who ever lays out the large board needs to fill up some extra space, so yea they are picking you

personally I dont like companies that play games with my money
3479  Forum 2005-2010 (read only) / Bar Sport / Re: Not again! BatchPCB doubled my order again! on: August 28, 2010, 02:37:39 am
more like dont tell all the other people who paid the same price expecting equal service to be plopped into a lottery

grats to you, but ...

Odd... Mine shows alot of stuff... It tells me cities and everything...

I handle fedex at work all day every day, its updated once in the morning and if it happened to make it to a second depot within 12 hours once at night

it surprised my wife actually, I shipped a package to Alabama on Tuesday, our truck doesn't get picked up until after 7pm, she was watching that tracking number like a hawk, the next morning she got an email from the recipient thanking her for the books, and the tracking number, well it did not even show up in their system till nearly an hour after it was dropped off due to the batch processing delay

and that was using standard ground service, granted less than 200 miles away, that is why it zipped though so darn fast, but lets say I send something to California, the tracking numbers wont show up in their system until its already been in Memphis (a 2.5 hour drive) and already loaded up on a truck and is at the second hub

get a ETA, check it once its getting close to make sure it did not get delayed, other than that your spinning your wheels over delayed data in a batch processing cue (and as much traffic as they have I would not want to see their rates increase to get a real time update)

reality is a pain aint it  smiley-wink
