Well not totally...  The potentiometer (if I understand things correctly) constitutes a voltage divider.  So you are measuring a voltage difference between that median voltage and the voltage flowing through the FET.  In the case of this circuit the supply voltage is 9V and if one assumes that the potentiometer is centered resistance-wise...  one would assume that a voltage flowing through the FET below 4.5 volts would be considered a "negative" result...  Or am I mistaken?

Some things I understand just fine others I'm pretty new to.  Can someone explain how they would convert the circuit found here: ...  To replace the meter with one of the Arduino's analog inputs?  I'd really appreciate it.

You could of course use a worm gear setup which would relieve the motor of the need to hold the whole rig in place.

The filter may reduce the amount of IR that the CCD registers, but it will still detect it far more readily than your eyes will.

I have a couple of GameBoy Advanced LCD Displays that I have harvested.  Can these be successfully attached to an Arduino?

To satisfy my curiosity, precisely how low can the analog reference voltage be set and still derive meaningful data?  Secondly, what would occur if the sampled voltage exceeded the reduced reference voltage?

This has no doubt been asked before, but I'm not sure if it's been asked in this way.  I'm looking to do audio capture with an Arduino.  I understand that there is not enough on-board memory to store useful amounts of audio, that is not what I want to do.  My idea is to have the Arduino sample the audio level via analog input (amplified microphone signal) then immediately write it to a Rogue uMMC.  So when the user presses the "Record" button.  A new file will be opened on the uMMC into which raw analog sampling results will be written until the user presses the "Stop" button or the card is full.  This raw sampling data can then be converted via a PC program into a usable form (i.e. .wav or .mp3).

So now to my questions.  Do you think that the uMMC will be able to respond to the write requests fast enough to not inhibit audio sampling rate?  Secondly, does anyone have any suggestions for the amplification circuit?  Could perhaps a simple LM386 based amplifier suffice with a condenser mic or would that not bring the level up to a sufficient voltage to be effectively sampled?

Seeing the compression waves on the impact side in that first balloon picture is very cool!

ever see a zombie use a boat or airplane

No but I did see them walk along under water in the Land of the Dead!

Whatever is in it must be HUGELY worse than anything out there, something almost unimaginably bad.

Wow, what could that be?  Is he going to reveal that the Iluminati and Bildebergers are actually as nefarious as some claim, that Obama's birth certificate is indeed as bogus as a 3 dollar bill and that a space ship actually did crash in Roswell or worse even yet, that the UN is going to take over the world and beam a non-stop stream of Barney the Purple Dinosaur and Teletubies re-runs on every TV channel for the rest of eternity.

Frankly I think the man is divisive and I've never seen a discussion between his fans and detractors end well.

Oh, quit complaining!

I'll have you know, I'm a sardonic, bitter old man, it's my god given right to complain.

Total waste of my time.  I got all the way to the "this order qualifies" page and clicked the "submit order for free day" button and spent what seemed like decades hitting refresh.  This after they already took my credit card information!  I was so totally robbed!  They better not charge anything to my card but shipping for the items I ordered.  Bastardly way of doing things that's all I know.  The maddening part is they had only given away about $1200 at the point where I clicked the "submit as free" button but then it went like gangbusters and next time I got a page to load it said $100,000...  All in all it left a distinctly BAD taste in my mouth.
