1  Using Arduino / Sensors / UNO and SR04 and W5100 shield on: May 10, 2014, 03:10:00 pm
I am trying to build a Distance measuring device with a LCD and Ethernet shield all combined.
I have suceeded in the W5100 part but when I add the LCD library for the LCD the Ethernet shield no longer works , as far as the web page is concerned. I am using "ajax" and my SD to display a dial on the web page but the part that fails with no error codes of any kind is the web page. The dial will not load from the SD card. I know that a 1602 lcd uses pin 4 and so does the SD so I can not use a 1602 using 8 pins so I thought I might use a I2c LCD but loading the wire and the LiquidCrystal_I2C libraries and then trying the program the display has no data and neither does the web page as far as the dial goes.
Can anyone give me some insight as to why the Sr04 and the W5100 and SD and LCD don't get along. If I rem out the 2 fore mention libraries the web page works just fine.
I have solved this issue. It was the UNO did not have enough memory to load the necessary code into memory space.

Thanks will try lefty's method.  smiley

Can't seem to find answer to this question on this site.
I am wondering if the UNO or Meag can be software programmed to re-set itself and a given period of time?

Thank for the help  smiley

I got your program to work for me just a few mods for my situation you can look the code over if you want me to post it. And see if it helps you. I have to re-think my situation because this idea just won't work for me. I need to control 7 different messages and some have to be displayed at the same time. So it is probably going to take me more than on display to do this.
Thanks for the help.

Andy I thank you for the progress you have made, please post the final code when you have it all up and working the way you what. I will reformat you code and take a look at wht you have accomplished. Looking forward to your next post on this subject.  smiley

Andy, Did You finally get the project working?
If you did I was wondering if you could share the finished projects code.
I am trying to do a scrolling message center with an 8x8 led matrix, the center would have 7 pre-difined messages and depending on the switch selected that would determine the message that would be scrolled across the matrix.

Thanks Don moving the pin on the LCD to other than 2 and 3 seems to have solved the issue. smiley

Hello Folks
I am new to this site but after reading the postings on this problem I thought I will give you a another problem with lcd contamination of all the characters on the display.
I have and optical sensor reading distance and print out the results to the lcd. No problem with any corruption until I added a web server shield to the mix and as soon as I  set this line active , Ethernet.begin(mac, ip);The display never has the correct characters displayed again.
comment out this line and everything returns to normal, also does not make any difference if the shield is attached to the UNO r3 or not. Is It is something in the ethernet shield library???
Perhaps others out there have had same experience and this can be solved.
