1  Products / Arduino GSM Shield / Re: how to send SMS from arduino to mobile with out serial monitor on: April 21, 2014, 01:36:54 am
Hi,

I show you a SMS example modified. Basically, you have to use a char array with your text.

Code:
// Include the GSM library
#include <GSM.h>

#define PINNUMBER ""

// Your text
char txtMsg[] = "The text of my message";

// initialize the library instance
GSM gsmAccess;
GSM_SMS sms;

void setup()
{
  // initialize serial communications and wait for port to open:
  Serial.begin(9600);
  while (!Serial) {
    ; // wait for serial port to connect. Needed for Leonardo only
  }

  Serial.println("SMS Messages Sender");

  // connection state
  boolean notConnected = true;

  // Start GSM shield
  // If your SIM has PIN, pass it as a parameter of begin() in quotes
  while(notConnected)
  {
    if(gsmAccess.begin(PINNUMBER)==GSM_READY)
      notConnected = false;
    else
    {
      Serial.println("Not connected");
      delay(1000);
    }
  }

  Serial.println("GSM initialized");
}

void loop()
{

  Serial.print("Enter a mobile number: ");
  char remoteNum[20];  // telephone number to send sms
  readSerial(remoteNum);
  Serial.println(remoteNum);

  // sms text
  Serial.print("Now, enter SMS content: ");
  readSerial(txtMsg);
  Serial.println("SENDING");
  Serial.println();
  Serial.println("Message:");
  Serial.println(txtMsg);

  // send the message
  sms.beginSMS(remoteNum);
  sms.print(txtMsg);
  sms.endSMS();
  Serial.println("\nCOMPLETE!\n");
}

Hi,

Sorry, we are working for adding password reset feature to new "movilforum website".

Thanks for your feedback.

For example, you can send commands from a sketch with:

Code:
theTTModemCore.genericCommand_rqc("AT+QDTONEDET=1", true); // Send command
_delay_ms(1000); // Wait for response
theTTModemCore.genericParse_rsp(resp); // parse response looking for a OK

// If OK
if(resp)
{
// Do a call and search for a modem response like "+QTONEDET: ..."
}

To check if a QTONEDET event happens, you have to development your own parser reading data from the buffer with:
Code:
char c = theGSM3ShieldV1ModemCore.theBuffer().read()

You have to change the '#define' called __RXPIN__ in GSM3SoftSerial.cpp file in GSM Library.

Ex: #define __RXPIN__ 10

Look at leds indicators. Power LED is ON? Network LED is blinking slowly, or fastly?

The GSM3 library has an error. It includes HardwareSerial.h instead of Arduino.h in some classes. I fixed it.
You can download it in this URL: http://arduinoshield.tid.es/GSMLibrary/GSM3.zip

Hi,

Yes, it is possible. You can use the MakeVoiceCall to learn how do you call. Then, you have to buy a temperature sensor and read it value in your sketch. There are many tutorials with a wide range of sensors and examples.

Execute ReceiveSMS example including a parameter 'true' in gsmAccess to activate debug mode.

Ex: GSM gsmAccess(true);

Post the output, please.

What SIM are you using? Did you connect pins 2 and 10?

The SIM obtain a IP address when connects to GPRS, this IP address is a private IP if you use a M2M SIM (as BlueVia SIM included with shield). You can use a SIM from the operator that you prefer. If you want to use BlueVia SIM included, you have to visit arduinoshield.tid.es to buy a internet package. For some operation with the shield, you haven't to visit any site.
ok if I'm using this GSM do I need special code on the phone application or the same as using wifi  , I mean does the code on the application differs if I used the GSM from when using wifi. ?.

I don't get what do you want to say. Could you explain more deeply?

Hi,

Execute the sketch replacing the line:

GSM gsmAccess;

with:

GSM gsmAccess(true);

Post your serial output.

You have to add your country code to telephone number (for example: +44123456789)

It may be a suppressor diode.
