Are you doing any automatic controll of the humidity? We use to have some chickens and refilling the water in the incubator was a pain.

Received this response from Brookshire.

Thank you for your email. VSA does not natively support the Arduino.
Depending on what you have in mind doing, they could be designed to coordinate, but you would need to write your own software using VSA Console.

I have done some searching on the web and found someone has done this using the miniSSC for the outputs, but no code available. Will be trying this weekend.

Just sent them an e-mail. Will see what happens.

Anyone use this program with the arduino, or any other animitronics software? I am looking into making an animatronics pumpkin.

Make sure the baud rates are the same. Try changing to a different baud rate too. I had the same problem and fixed it by trying a different baud rate.

as3Glue worked for me, but was a pain to get working. Baudrate had to be 115200 nothing else would work. I used tinkerproxy or serproxy with Flash and make sure the com port # is configured. Flash will not talk to Arduino by itself. Other programs will so I am trying to switch from Flash to something else.

To do it this way you would have to figure out how to do a serial read in actionscript. I have not been able to do this yet, or know if it is possible.

Another way would be to use as3Glue and read in the analog input values directly into actionscript. Then let actionscript do all the computing.

Let us know if you get this working. I have also tried this with Firmata and As3Glue. No luck yet. I have switched to VB because of this issue. Much easier to communicate with, but I like the flash programming.

In flash CS4 it was easy to get the timing. That is why I used it first. Flash is designed with a timeline type of approach. You can import any mp3 and it will show its spectrum in the layer it is imported. Then add layers under to turn on and off the LEDs when you want them to. Will get a picture of the program to show this better tonight.

Or if anyone knows how to send data to the arduino from CS4 this will work for me too. Not just the pin output or input. Need to send a number to it (0-255) then shift it out with arduino to the shift reg.

I have a project I am trying to expand. Currently I have Flash CS4 controlling 12 LEDs in time with an MP3 file. Due to the cost of CS4 I want to switch to another programm, vb, c+, processing.

I would also like to use shift reg to expand the number of LEDs. I would then need to send the data to Arduino to shift out. I could not get this to work with CS4 could only controll pins and not send data. Any thoughts on what software would be best to work with?

This does work, but still have a few things to workaround. The movieclip works, but all the Arduino functions must be in the original first frame. Not in the movie clip where I want to control the arduino. Will have to find a way to pass variables to and from the movieclip back to the first frame of the original program.

I have this same problem and think I may have a solution to try when I get home tonight. I tried to add more frames in my flash program, but then it looses the connection to the arduino. Remove the extra frames and everything is ok.

Create a movie clip and put it in the single frame, perhaps on a different layer. Edit the movie clip and extend its frames to be more. In these extra frames, write the rest of your programming. Will let you know if this works tonight with some screenshots.

PIN #14 works, but 15 thru 19 do not work as a digital output. Anyone try this before?
15  Forum 2005-2010 (read only) / Development / Firmata Question on: February 05, 2010, 09:18:14 am
Is there a way to make a firmata program to use PortC as a digital output? I have used PortC as a digital output in a simple program, but now want to controll it with "CS4 - Flash" through firmata. I have started with the SimpleDigitalFirmata.
