Something going on in ShenZhen? That place is not affected by weather in October. The port of Shenzhen was shut down ahead of Typhoon Megi, which is expected to make landfall this weekend east of Hong Kong, the whole area is pretty much at a standstill, as much as it can be, getting ready for the hit. Having spent a few typhoons in hong kong this has got to be a bad boy for them to shut the port that far ahead. It is expected to be one of the biggest to threaten the South China coast in years. Pretty much anything above a 3 the whole place locks down, schools close, all government closes, public transportation and most businesses close, nothing really moves and you pretty much lock your self at home or a near by bar and ride it out.

Seems to get programmed faster than the duemilanove The serial connection now operates at 115800 bps in conjunction with the new optiboot on the 328 data is moving much faster. Plus I would imagine the pacing of the optiboot would also add to the perception, even though it should be infinitesimal in boot speed difference. But the real bump is in the data speed transfer rate.

PS Did you grab a before and after pic, I d like like to do a quick write up from your forum post on my Tinker Tech blog, because it comes up alot and as I said I had two people who ended up bricking. so i t would be nice to show more than an anecdotal success.

You just bought me lunch, I bet someone you would "get the urge" just to look into it, but there were no guarantees you would report it here so the bet was I would ask back in a month and I wasn't allowed to encourage. Congrats on the upgrade and thanks for lunch. ;D ;D ;D ;D BOZ

I have seen two work and two bricks, its a very simple change I mean essentially its just desolder a cap to kill the high pass filter circuit.
The two bricks were recent purchases, so there is a question if they made some changes to combat the alteration.
I mean one capacitor and you save $400 bux, does make a tempting target.

Yeah Jameco has etch kits too. I have made PCBs in the deep dark past, as a kid in the 70s, so the etching part isnt new to me, but those were pretty much hand drawn HUGE circuits, not big boards, BIG and I do mean big traces, think marksalot big traces and resistors the size of the ftdi chip on your arduino and caps the size of a pill bottle.
The part that is new to me is the fandangle computery part with minuscule traces, printed photoresist, smd parts and eagle layout.
Its not the computer side, I am an adept when it comes to that and even have heavy CAD experience for building layout, lotsa years designing haunts in autocad, but I was looking for someone that has the magic incantations and their own sooper sekret spells to teach me to do PCBs like the arduino.
As to the just getting started it moves quickly and can be quite addictive, don't expect you will feel new for too long, and will definitely let ya know when there is a meet up.
