1  Using Arduino / Interfacing w/ Software on the Computer / assignment of port on osx on: November 12, 2012, 12:10:13 pm
I've seen a way to declare a specific COM port on Windows so the Arduino is always read at the same port, but is there a way of doing that on OSX?
The machine I'm running my project on needs the arduino to be on the same port every time it restarts and sometimes it'll get set to a different port.
2  Using Arduino / Project Guidance / Arduino running multiple speaker setup on: July 19, 2012, 03:09:36 pm
This is what I'm trying to do.
I need to play a specific audio file to a specific speaker (8 sounds and speakers total).
Each sound/speaker is played one at a time.
The setup will be in a larger room, but the speakers will be hidden inside objects.
I've attached a simple diagram of what I was thinking.

Using just an arduino and mp3 shield to output the audio (powered by a 12V wall wart -- not sure the amp needed).
Send the audio to an audio amplified (
The 8 speakers connect to the amplifier through a set of 8 relays (and an 8 bit shift register), the relay picks which speaker is used at that time.

I also am not sure what speaker I can use.
Would these speakers work? Are these strong enough? Or need too much power?

Is using an amplifier overkill?
3  Community / Exhibition / Gallery / gut check -- a facebooking and tweeting fridge on: October 05, 2011, 10:53:19 am

I've been using this to help me stop snacking late at night. If it try to raid the fridge at a certian time, a pressure resistor on the fridge triggers and arduino which posts to my Facebook wall and Twitter feed, via WiShield and PHP, that I'm trying about to raid the fridge so my friends can give me a hard time about it.

Just put out an instructable for the simple version of it,

And a small tumblr site to explain it a bit better,
