My question is how to implement these two sensors together to output the (MV) manipulated variable?

I'm trying to make a self balancing robot using a three axis accelerometer and a one axis gyro.

Accelerometer:
http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9269
Gyro:
http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9057

I want the robot to be able to stay upright while powered on with a setpoint of 0.

My question is how to implement these two sensors together to output the (MV) manipulated variable? I've had a look at just about every website on the internet with no suffice.

ANY help is appreciated, Thanks in advance.

yes, i do have a gyro this one to be exact:

The biggest problem i ran into is combining the two.
I need to use a PID controller for the balance.
Any ideas?

im building a balancing robot. I need help with the PID controller.

Instead of using a gyro to measure deg/sec can i do this with an accelerometer?

this is my accelerometer: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=848

Thank you,

well you can fix it decreasing when bent with this:

Code:
sensorVal = map(sensorVal, sensorMin, sensorMax, newsensorMax, newsensorMin);

Use a sprinkler solenoid.

Dont use arduinos serial monitor. upload the sample sketch from sparkfuns cellular shield. Once thats uploaded open up XCTU then wait for it to say
+SIND 11
+SIND 3
+SIND 4

after it says +SIND 4 then type in your at commands.

okay now i seem to have run into a differant problem.
after i get the serial.print to type put the at commands in for sending a txt msg. but after i get it to put in at+cmgs="214244****" it has an arrow symbol like:

.>      (im supposed to type my txt in here to be sent)

but for some reason it doesn't show up on that line when I do a serial.print.
146  Forum 2005-2010 (read only) / Interfacing / Need help with Serial.print on: April 02, 2010, 07:13:08 pm
I'm trying to send this:  Serial.print("at+cmgs="2144244****"");
The problem I'm having is I need to be able to send the inner paraentheses because to send a txt msg you have to send at+cmgs="214244****".

Any Ideas?
    Thanks.

What kind of G-force are you dealing with this might be a factor if its high enough.

Well, I have a cellular shield and i can use X-CTU to type in all the at commands to send text msgs. EX:

at+cmgf=1

at+cmgs="214244****"
then i can type in what i want to send.

and then the ctrl-z.

i need a way to print these msgs with a Serial.print.
I'm trying to make it so if i press a push button it types these commands in using the serial print.

Any ideas?, is this even possible?

is there any way you can get an arduino to print this. EX) Serial.print("026"). That might just print that number how could you do this?

Doesn't matter because it worked.
