61  Using Arduino / Networking, Protocols, and Devices / WIFI shield drops connection - a solution here. on: July 11, 2014, 03:42:59 am
Hi all,
           While designing a remote WiFi connected logger for a client, I had issues when the unit was installed on his WiFi network, the connection would reset for no reason (it was a BT business hub, so no surprises then). After a look around the forum, the web site and google, there was no solution that I could find. So I came up with this little piece of code :

Code:
void isWiFiConnected()
{
  IPAddress ip = WiFi.localIP();
  if (ip[0] == 0)
{
 Serial.println("ERROR!!!!!");
 status = WiFi.begin(ssid, pass);
    // wait 10 seconds for connection:
    delay(10000);
}
}

I call this in my main loop - instead of dropping the connection and being unavailable until the unit is reset, it now reconnects if the IP Address starts with a 0 - e.g. 0.0.0.0

you don't - you make it.

You will probably get a better response of you post in a labview forum!

I've used the cheap digital cameras from ebay, and rigged the shutter release with relays for some, and transistors for others.

Here, have my search!

or press and hold reset until the sketch size shows and release the reset button.

you do not use a programmer when using the ftdi - burn the bootloader with your usbasp, then unplug it and connect your ftdi. all you have to do is click upload (or the tick) with any example (blink is a good choice).

Yip, thats fine - as long as it's not over +0.5V higher.

Wow - just typed some stuff into google with the word keyboard and arduino, and it gave me lots of links . . Maybe someone broke your google?

Please give a link to the board you purchased - there are a lot of Chinese 'clones' that do not use the ftdi chip.

You need to upload the bootloader with your usbasp - then you can use the FTDI to upload sketches.

I've used a pro-mini with an Ethernet shield, and the nano is pretty much the same (just with an ftdi chip) so I don't see why it would not work.

Get out your calculator, and see what time difference you will have in your 'sound' pulses, how big is this room?

Take your caps lock off, do you have any code so far? what 'motion' are you talking about, do you need someone to do this for you or are you looking for assistance only?

Please be specific, as general questions will get general answers (if any).
