I want to know how too

I'm don't understand the sketch in the example, doesn't run!

I did some modifications but didn't works =/

Can you post a example for me ?
Please

oh yes Grumpy_Mike, I understood.
Great idea!!!!  smiley-wink

what you mean about Glass filters IR, does plastic?

thanks very  very  very much Bubule, thegeekway and cr0sh.

I still do not know very well that the dielectric constant, but I'll take a look over.

As the idea of the gripper I was thinking of using it with an image processing, there could identify the object's position and straighten the pins to pick up the object.

As the idea of sound, if I use a microphone closer and with a low sensitivity, provalvente reduce interference.

Today I saw my friend differentiating a glass of a plastic, he used it the sound, hitting him he realized that the glass is plastic.

I look at these possibilities, if anyone else has an idea to post there ...

Thanks again for your attention and help smiley-wink

cr0sh, Thanks man, your idea is  pretty  good and simple, I will try but create the gripper isn't so easy to make.

Bubule, thanks for the help, what you say is true, if you have a lot of noise will not work. At first using this weight, but weight is not the most universal way to distinguish the glass from plastic, so it was off to another idea.
To measure the weight is trying to do this: http://www.nerdkits.com/videos/weighscale/

To distinguish the metal, I'm using "inductive" that can detect any type of metal.

The capacitive sensor so I know it detects the presence of any object, he both glass and plastic.

thanks for everything !

Hello everbody!

I Want to distinct plastic than glass, but to be more especific, a bottle.

I tested the image process, but nao deu certo, the light is very dificult to control .
And the weight, is the worst way, because isn't  precise, and have many variations.

Now I'm trying to use se sound. I hit the object, and  i comare the sound generated with some samples.

but how to compare the sound?
This module works for me ? (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9753)

Someone have other any idea?

obs: the robot is like this: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/21904

Thanks
