The creator of that does not seem to have released the source code to the pic software. I suspect the Arduino could easily be programmed to do the same thing.

I'm not sure where in Germany you'd get them even though Phillips has factories there. You might contact Phillips and ask.

They work great!

The following program will perform a knight rider function with 16 LEDs using only four lines from the Arduino. This should give you an idea of what is possible.

The wiring is from the playground page though they are a bit lacking. I'll need to write it down at some point.

/* Dual hef4794 knightrider toy
Public domain by

int data = 9;
int strob = 8;
int clock = 10;
int oe = 11;
int count = 0;
int dato = 0;
int ack = 13;

void setup()
  pinMode(data, OUTPUT);
  pinMode(clock, OUTPUT);
  pinMode(strob, OUTPUT);
  pinMode(oe, OUTPUT);
  pinMode(ack, OUTPUT);

void loop()
  digitalWrite(ack, HIGH);
  dato = 1;
  for (int i = 0 ; i < 16 ; i++){
    shiftOut(data, clock, LSBFIRST, dato>>smiley-cool;
    shiftOut(data, clock, LSBFIRST, dato);
    dato = dato<<1;
    digitalWrite(oe, LOW);
    digitalWrite(strob, HIGH);
    digitalWrite(oe, HIGH);
    digitalWrite(strob, LOW);
    delay(50);                  // waits for a moment
    digitalWrite(ack, LOW);
  dato = 32768;
  for (int i = 16 ; i > 0 ; i--){
    shiftOut(data, clock, LSBFIRST, dato>>smiley-cool;
    shiftOut(data, clock, LSBFIRST, dato);
    dato = unsigned (dato)>>1;
    digitalWrite(oe, LOW);
    digitalWrite(strob, HIGH);
    digitalWrite(oe, HIGH);
    digitalWrite(strob, LOW);
    delay(50);                  // waits for a moment
    digitalWrite(ack, LOW);

Post a link to the boards datasheet so we can see what it is.

You use specific gravity to measure alcohol? If so try this. smiley-wink

Based on the sensitivity you'd want a very small sample of fluid to analyze. You may even need to dilute the sample.

I've not used them.

A single on off on switch.

Wire the common to the pin in the center of the header that has the jumper for USB or External power.  Wire up one connection to the USB power power pin and one to the external power pin. Now you can flip the switch to use USB or external power or be off. I'm not sure but I think a three pin connector similar to the ones used on the board would allow you to solder to the connector and slide that onto the three pins on the board.

Single pole changeover or Single pole, center off

ATTiny84 has SPI. I've not seen where one of these has been used with any Arduino yet.

Hey with those you can implement rolling block ciphers! Sweet!

The TPIC is the same as the 595 but it has higher current output. The code will be identical. There is another chip HEF4794 which is also a high power output chip but only drives 40ma.

The standard 595 chip will drive 1 LED per output fine but if it needs to drive more you're going to have to boost it's output.

Oh how helpful, someone asks for help and is sent to google. If all you want to do is crap on people why are you here?

atoi sucks for beginners
