+1 on the 2 fingers. That's how apple has you scroll in a scroll area like that.

It does take a bit of practice.

Like this? With no resistor before the input pin is there a possibility of overloading the arduino pin?

P.S. Yes, i'm making sure I have the collector to 5v and emitter to analog 0.

Don't have my sketch in front of me so I know this is breaking the rules, but I've already narrowed it down to a hardware problem.

I have an IR LED set up and verified it is lighting up using a camera.

Then I have an IR Phototransistor going into analog zero.

Sudo code sets analog 0 to input, reads the value and prints it to serial but it's always at 1023 even if the LED is on or off. Even if I cover the sensor with my finger or a dark cloth it still reads 1023. Even if I unplug the IR LED and cover the sensor. Still reads 1023.

I know the code is good because I put a pot in place of the sensor and the value changed as I turned the pot.

I've also tried changing the resistor value. Everything from 150ohms to 100K. It just always reads 1023.

Here are the 2 parts...

IR LED
IR Sensor

Thanks in advance.

Was supposed to be 6pm whatever your local time is. It came a bit late here in the bay area. 3.6 earth quake hit at just after 7. Still here so I guess I wasn't saved. smiley-sad

I tried a transistor and it wasn't working, but only cause n00b me forgot to connect the grounds together. So I went with a relay instead.

THAT might take a  while.  It wasn't till saturday afternoon that my email stopped working, and sunday my VPN and one engineeing system was still working (but I could no longer log in.)  I'm not sure how long the VPN would have stayed up; but I decided it wasn't worth keeping up just to access the one host...  Interesting to follow, in a way...
That's just Cisco. My wife contracted there last year. Her first three days on the job were spent sitting around because here computer wasn't ready. The next two were spent trying to get the software she needed installed on her now "ready" computer.

Wow. I would buy one of those just for the cool factor.

I was thinking liner encoder using IR as well.

Another link. http://gizmodo.com/5800436/androids-new-hacker-dream-adk-makes-anything-an-accessory

Watch the video to see an Android tablet control a marble labyrinth via a couple servos.

They then built a giant labyrinth that requires two 200V 50A motors.

Is there a problem? Well normally I'd say no. I don't think anyone would see this logo and instantly think "Hey, this PCB with electronics all over it must have something to do with Dr. Dre and his headphones!" Of course Monster may disagree.

Very interesting announcement this morning from Google I/O.

They did a demo connecting an Android handset to an Arduino and use it as the interface to connect pretty much ANYTHING to your handset.

My next phone may be an Android instead of an iPhone.

The logos are a bit different. Continuous line vs broken. Almost perfect circles vs a more figure 8 shape.

Of course Monster is a very sue-happy company. I'd say there might be some concern.

Awesome project. I never would have thought you could get an arduino in a ping pong ball. But I've never seen the mini in person either.

For the humidity when I first saw the graph and before I read your theory I was actually thinking that the increased humidity might be from condensation forming on the ball as it was falling. But that's just a guess. I'm not meteorologist.
