I did something similar with a cheap MP3 player.

Definitions. Assumptions. Order of operations. Sheesh, do I have to spell EVERYTHING out?

OK. Solve this equation.

48÷2(9+3) = ?

Here are the rules/definitions/assumptions/etc...
  • All numbers are in base 14
  • Everything OUTSIDE the parenthesizes should be done first
  • I am awesome
  • Once the equation has been solved to a single (base 14) number, if the answer IS NOT 42 (base 14), a number between zero and 13 (again, base 14) should be chosen and either added or subtracted from it in which ever way brings it closer to 42 (base 14)
  • If the answer IS NOT 42 (base 14) then another random number zero to 13 (base 14) should be chosen and either added or subtracted from it in which ever way get's it closer to 42 (base 14)

What's the final answer?

Ims telling' ya. If you're trying to use a transistor as a switch and having trouble why not just get an actual switch??? Pick up a relay.

Nick, you caught that he didn't want to use batteries, yes but you missed this part...

In the first version this will only take a second or two but later I might need up to a minute.

He doesn't need 7 hours of run time. A 2600F cap is way overkill.

I don't think 20Ma is enough to saturate it, is it? (Don't know how to calculate it but it seems too low.)

Can you use a smaller resistor? 150 or 100?

Click the blue "New" button next to the topic title. But yes, I've seen other forums that put a "Go to newest post" at the top of every page.

Use food coloring in water and draw dot-matrix style pictures. Or sphere-matrix in this case.

Very cool non the less.

And that is the fundamental issue. Not everybody agrees with that.

Heck, we can't all even agree on which side of a road to drive on.  smiley-wink

Now you're trying to confuse things with geometry.

Vehicle A belongs to me
Road B is whatever road vehicle A is on currently
Road B is bisected by line C
All roads belong to me
Therefore vehicle A may drive on either side of line C

Simpler would be collect all your example sketches and put them into one sketch, a function for each one.

Have a button that cycles through them.

Turn on Arduino and LED blinks.
Push button and it moves to next one. Maybe a piezo beeping.
Push button and it moves on to next.
etc...

Not just google.... the InterWebs! If it's on the InterWebs it MUST be true!

Sounds to me like maybe the base is not getting enough current to turn the transistor on all the way. (Saturate it???) Do you have a resistor between 13 and the base? (you should) what size?

Or...

The it may not like the voltage drop across the transistor. Maybe use a relay instead?

It's basically a bunch of if statements

<sudo code>

Define your 4 pins

Input pins = 1, 2, 3 and 4

output pins = 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, etc....

if (1==low and 2==low and 3==low and 4==low) {
  pin 5 = high
}

if (1==high and 2==low and 3==low and 4==low) {
  pin 6 = high
}

if (1==low and 2==low and 3==high and 4==low) {
  pin 7 = high
}

rinse

repeat

</sudo code>

I give it 5 posts before.... well I'll leave it at that and follow up later.

Basic math.

Wow, that's crazy awesome! Nice work.

Where were you performing? Is it a bar/club?
