1  Using Arduino / Installation & Troubleshooting / Re: [SOLVED] Arduino IDE 1.5.4 Error on startup on: September 18, 2013, 12:54:39 pm
I still get the same error on the machine where I have an unknown Device on my device list.

On the other machine, there is no error, but the connected Arduino UNO is not auto-detected.

That did the trick, no problems anymore  smiley

Thank you very much.

I actually have an unknown device on my device list, and when i delete the device Arduino starts up without any errors.

But now listComPorts.exe is detected as potentially maliciouson in Bitdefender on this Computer to  smiley-confuse

@Thansen_DK it seems like an issue with board autodetection. On windows we use a program called listComPorts.exe (credits to todbot).

Can you run that program directly? It's located at YOUR_IDE_FOLDER\hardware\tools

No, running listComPorts.exe generates the error

Is the popup blocking the tools menu from working correctly?

Yes it does.

What's wierd is that on an other machine also running Win8 Pro 32 bit. I could start Arduino 1.5.4 without the error, but my antivirus (Bitdefender Antivirus Pro 2013) detected listComPorts.exe as potentially malicious and blocked it, maybe thats why i don't get an error on this machine.

Ok, thank you.

Have to wait for a fix then.

Exactly the the same, when unziped on the Desktop.

Just downloaded Arduino IDE 1.5.3, installed it in C:/Program files/arduino-1.5.3
No problem there.

this could be a problem with acces to restricted maps
where did you put the installation?

C:/Program files/arduino/

Both with the Windows Installer and the Zip.

See the attached Screendump.
Keep getting this error when starting the IDE. The IDE starts and when i try to access the Tools menu, the error pops up again.

It happends on both the Windows installer and the Zip file.

Windows 8 Pro 32 bit.

Very very nice :-)

Looking forward to this kit, do you have any idea what the price will be?

Hejsa

Do you have to be a paying member to download the sketch??
15  Using Arduino / Displays / Re: Pin conflict LCD-Shield dfrobot <-> Arduino Ethernet shield on: February 06, 2011, 01:04:04 pm
Are you referring to this ethernet following shield?
http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoEthernetShield

I didn't see they refer to analog 0 and 1. What exactly do these two pins do on the ethernet shield?

I am working on my Phi-1 shield's revision. The new shield should be compatible with ethernet shield smiley

The Analog 0 and 1 is used for the SD card reader for Write protect switch and card detect switch, it is described in the following link.
