I second this. Had this problem.

Thats not a bad idea having it display the available at the end.

But my brain works best on a scale of progress based on the total.... i.e. a percent. It just seems more consistent to have a number 0-100 every time. I use multiple boards w/ different memories.Thats just me. [smiley=smiley.gif]

I have a suggestion for the next build.

After you build and upload your sketch to the board, you are currently given the amount of memory the code took up and the amount available on the board. This is great.

EXAMPLE:
"Binary sketch size: 1982 bytes (of a 126976 byte maximum)"

BUT, could you please make it display the PERCENTAGE of memory available in addition to? This would be great for quick viewing while watching how much space you have left to play with. Should only be an extra line of code to make this happen.

RESULT:
"Binary sketch size: 1982 bytes (of a 126976 byte maximum) - 1.5% used "

Thank you very much for this. I have skimmed it and it looks like a great place to start. I will look at it in more detail soon when I have a little more time (the holiday season is a rush).

Thanks for your speedy reply!  smiley

Yes, my font would actually be something in between the large/small ones and would be used instead of the large font. I don't have the space to display the large font for what I am doing, but the small one is barley readable to the older audience of people this thing will be built for.

I really am not sure how to edit this or make one from scratch. I do understand hex and binary though, so I know I can do it with a little more information/guidance.

@doc_norway

I have been playing around with your library for a good week now. It's nice.

I do have a question at this point: How did you make the larger font? I looked into the small & large font files which are encoded in hex. Did you use some software/font editor to make this possible? Or did you make the font manually?

The reason I ask is because I want to make a font of my own for my project. I would be happy to share the results with the community, but need a little help getting started.

"As of v2.0 there are NO support for the SD card-slot or Flash-memory."

Since you specificly mentioned there was no support for flash, I only assumed they all had it. What ever. I'm new to Arduino. I have experience for the Dragon board (RS232 chip set) and am basing everything off of that.

I don't know why I assumed I could only use one library

Sorry, I thought I mentioned it. I am using the Mega1280. Forgot that bit.

Looks interesting. I'll give this one a try when the screen shows up in the mail. Thanks!

EDIT:
Wait... no support for the SD and the Flash? I will be needing both of these for my project as i need to use many graphics. Large storage will be needed. Any way to make this happen? Does anybody else have another library that supports both?

This is awesome! Nice work! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] It's over $120 less than the liquidware touchscreen slide, even if it is less developed/supported.  smiley

:question I just ordered the 3.2" screen for my own development. You said that one was supported as well with your library, correct? :question

[glow]BUMP![/glow]

I am making a program that needs to play a melody. It doesn't work. The biggest problem is this.[ch8593]

When it plays a rest (0 Hz tone), all tones after that are wrong. Sometimes garbled or very low. Has anybody written a proper bit of code to solve this? PLEASE SHARE! smiley

Yeah, I'm using the 3.2" version of that screen (http://iteadstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=54&zenid=0cdtc1ifuchgll0puj502vfgq2) with the MEGA shield v1.1 (http://iteadstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18&products_id=231) and struggling to get the SD part to work.

This isn't the first thread I have seen on this topic either. Usually the thread just dies after a while with no clear resolution. As soon as any of us get that thing working, please share a link to the library for download + how you made it work and/or a modified version of the library for simplicity. Solve this issue once and for all!

Thank you much Richard Crowley. Yet another reason to not debug at 4am. Mine is a 32MB Cannon and threw the same errorcode: 2 that dwjp902 got. Dunno how I missed that, but here it is for Dwjp902.

Code:
//32MB Cannon
errorCode: 2 /** CMD8 was not accepted - not a valid SD card*/
errorData: FF
//your card is probably too small or not configured correctly.

//2nd 32MB Cannon
errorCode: 2 /** CMD8 was not accepted - not a valid SD card*/
errorData: FF
//your card is probably too small or not configured correctly.

//128MB Kodak
errorCode: F /** timeout while waiting for start of read data */
errorData: FF
//try doing a FULL FORMAT and maybe increase the value of [uint16_t const SD_READ_TIMEOUT = 300;]

//2BG Kingston MicroSD+adapter
errorCode: E /** read CID or CSD failed */
errorData: FF
//no idea what this means. need to research.

//4GB PNY SHDC microsd+ adapter
errorCode: E /** read CID or CSD failed */
errorData: 1F
//no idea what this means. need to research.

ALSO, I noticed the following in SdCard.h

Code:
// define software SPI pins so Mega can use unmodified GPS Shield
/** SPI chip select pin */
uint8_t const SD_CHIP_SELECT_PIN = 10;
/** SPI Master Out Slave In pin */
uint8_t const SPI_MOSI_PIN = 11;
/** SPI Master In Slave Out pin */
uint8_t const SPI_MISO_PIN = 12;
/** SPI Clock pin */
uint8_t const SPI_SCK_PIN = 13;

I suggest you change that to this:
Code:
// define software SPI pins so Mega can use unmodified GPS Shield
/** SPI chip select pin */
uint8_t const SD_CHIP_SELECT_PIN = 53;//10;  53 or 49?
/** SPI Master Out Slave In pin */
uint8_t const SPI_MOSI_PIN = 52;//11;
/** SPI Master In Slave Out pin */
uint8_t const SPI_MISO_PIN = 50;//12;
/** SPI Clock pin */
uint8_t const SPI_SCK_PIN = 51;//13;

I have spent an hour looking for furthur documentation on this and have found none.

I spent another hour using my minimal experience looking through the code in the libraries trying to find where the error codes come from and have only found a headache.

Could any of you guys who are more experienced take a look at this as I really am just as frustrated and lost as OP.  [smiley=undecided.gif]

I am also having this exact problem. Can anybody help this guy? Fixing his problem would fix mine.  smiley-wink
