1  Using Arduino / Storage / Re: Read data from .txt file (from SD card) to run pan & tilt servos on: September 28, 2012, 02:03:03 pm
Thanks for the quick revert Frollard. I'm completely aligned with your thought. But my concern was,

1. Are there any functions from Arduino to convert these large values (example: 0.018519) to (between: 0-1000)
2. how to access the desired columns (top to bottom) from the .txt file individually so assign these converted values to corresponding servos.

Thanks
Vallu
2  Using Arduino / Storage / Read data from .txt file (from SD card) to run pan & tilt servos on: September 27, 2012, 03:24:14 pm
Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to build a project which involves animatronics (realistic human neck simulation). The Idea is to play the servos from the recorded/datalogged data. This data is generated from a wii remote using DarwiinRemote program. Im trying to use this data in the .txt format which is then uploaded onto a SD card slot of an ethernet shield through which Im trying to read the file. Though I found dumpfile and read/write examples in arduino, but I am unable to understand how to use this data to run a servo. I have also attached the .txt file for the reference. I want to access the AccX, AccY, AccZ data sequentially and individually in order to play the corresponding three servos.

incase if you are unable to view the attachment, the .txt file looks like this

time,AccX,AccY,AccZ

@ crossRoads: Will give it a try. but doesnt seem like I have anytime to give it a try with online manufacturers. coz now here in Italy everything is shut till tomorrow. with that I wont be left with anytime for my presentation. Meantime, I got in touch with the people from Fablab Milan. so hopefully if they can help me, I'm saved. Fingers crossed. I'm thankful to you all for all the energy and support. It is just not my time I believe to realize this project smiley-sad

Hi Testato, Sent you a PM.

Also, Im worried that I do not have more time and the shipping says only thursday. Is there anything like physical store, that I can approach to and request on an emergency basis?? Even if it is not in Piedmonte, I dont mind traveling to get it done. Also I am looking for 12 volt DC car wiper pump for this project. I had tried my best in biella, no body seems to have it smiley-sad Any idea where I can get this from??

Thanks

@ crossroads: I'm sorry that I am a total beginner in electronics. I tried it on eagle Version 5.11.0, but It seemed complex and too many GERBER formats. Also what I have is a .brd file. Does that make any difference? Here is what I tried.

File > OPEN .brd file
File > CAM Processor

Then here is what I see smiley-sad

Also how do I know how many layers is my PCB?

@ ratto93 and leo72: Thanks for both the links. Will try to get in touch with them.

@ CrossRoads: thanks for putting me through terryking, finally got in touch with him and he was kind enough to help me on this assignment. Well, the circuit is already designed and provided as a .brd and .sch file. so I am assuming that it is in print ready format. Here is the link for what i am planning to print.

I am not sure on how it needs to be submitted for these online dealers though. I mean a JPEG or a .brd? It would be great if you could clarify my amateur doubts smiley

@ leo72: Yes leo I agree with you that there is a lot of taxing around the purchases made outside of europe.

Hello,

I am an artist from india, currently on a project in Biella,Italy. I needed to print/fabricate few(5 Pieces) PCB and hence I'm looking for PCB makers/vendors. Does anybody know where I can get a PCB made anywhere in milan, Turin or Genova? It would be great if the community could help me by  sharing some contact details of these vendors.

Thank you.

9  International / Generale / Project Collaborator needed in italy! on: October 16, 2011, 11:38:07 am
Hello

Firstly, I apologize for cross posting. Posting this topic in nation specific category seemed to be more relevant and helpful, hence I'm re-announcing my requirement here.

I’m an artist-designer from India working in the area of technology, art and everyday life. I’m currently an artist-in-residence at cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto, Italy. I’m looking for an active collaborator (Preferably from Milan or Turin) from for a project that I’m currently developing as part of the program. The work will be presented at the premiere art fair ‘Artissima18’ in Turin. The collaborators role is to participate in realisation and fabrication of the project.

The project is essentially about electromagnetic spaces or ‘hertzian spaces’ in Anthony Dunne’s terms. Physical interaction and aesthetics is the core of this project. It is realized by the medium of physical computing through the platforms such as arduino and processing. Further details on the concept can be shared if interested.

Skill-set required
Custom electronics and sensor technologies
Arduino prototying

Pay & Benefits
Since the project has a limited funding and is only applicable for the material expenses, Hence I’m unable pay any attractive perks for the collaboration. May be a small fee could be discussed. Also the artist/collaborator will be equally credited for their work wherever presented. The project if realized well may also be presented or submitted for award shows in future. Opportunity to experiment and explore in physical computing. I’m also open for any artistic views or ideas that would shape and lead the project for a betterment. Hence, I see this work as a collaboration and not purely as an assistance.

For any other queries, please contact me at sunil.v@nid.edu

Grazie!
Sunil

Thanks CrossRoad smiley Hoping that I find somebody on time.

@ CrossRoads: Sorry for not being able to mention that, as I am looking for people mostly localities from milan or turin primarily and hence a minimal pay and not a boarding & stay. Stay and could be possible at the residency, but its quite painful to work from this small town, as one would face issues for procurement of material and so on.

Thanks,
sunil
