The makers of Arduino are fine with you buying your own parts and making your own Arduino

From the book "Getting Started with Arduino" by Massimo Banzi (co-founder of Arduino)

It is open source hardware and software--if you wish, you can download the circuit diagram, buy all the components, and make your own, without paying anything to the makers of Arduino.

Though, I'm not sure they're pleased with others making, and selling "Arduino"s

The new iPhone will come out in June/July, so if you want to wait that long, get that one, if you don't, get the iPhone 4

(assuming you're only looking at iPhones)

Omg dude that things friggin nice, it has so many buttons I wouldn't know what to do with 'em

I got a cheapo (45 dollars I think) multimeter that does capacitance and frequency (I chose it specifically for capacitance)

1000 leds. Now to use them for next years decoration   Wink

I got my brother something similar a few years back, the year after we got our Wii's and we were all like "OMG WIIS R AWESOME" I was going to buy him the stuff to make a wireless sensor, but at like 2.75 a IR led at Radio Shack I was like screw this and went looking elsewhere, found a site that sold them at a much more reasonable price, but there was a min order limit, so I ended up buying like 800 IR LEDs

Shortly thereafter we got bored with the Wii, they still haven't been used... lol

Also, thanks for the advice from before, sorry for derailing the thread a bit, the other gift I got was a cheapo soldering iron

I, in a huge surprise, got an Arduino Uno, unfortunately I don't have... anything, to use with it, no leds or anything.. with me

Anyone know any good projects (besides the basic projects) I can tinker with until I get some stuff?

It's meant to be ... silly, and fun... dissolves in rain so it cleans itself up (probably bad for the environment)

Also, on topic: I am very new to Arduino (it was my Christmas present), if you send me any potential lessons, I can judge how doable for someone new to it they are (of course, I work through them and learn something for myself /cheer)

Squirt guns probably as a result of people being killed by police

Silly String, erm... maybe vandalism? Or used as incendiaries

Dogs were probably a result of dog fighting rings or something

It's all down to content rich web pages and, as you mentioned earlier, tracking.  I'm quite happy with content rich stuff but it would be good if low bandwidth versions were more readily available.
It's a shame the internet has forgotten about LowBW versions of websites, I remember when every site nearly had a LowBW version and some would swap over if they were being hit too hard...

Doesn't that say innovator of the decade? Mind, I don't actually SPEAK that language, it just makes more sense than inventor in my mind, and it's closer to innovator than inventor (not that there's a huge difference in the two terms)

Not to mention we're changing media types every 5-6 years, our ancestors are going to need 50 different media players to figure our shit out
