1  Development / Suggestions for the Arduino Project / Re: More customizable IDE? on: March 09, 2011, 03:19:39 pm
Please no! Customisation means complexity which means unexpected errors. Let's iron out all the idiosyncrasies that currently exist and get a stable IDE that 'just works' before going down that road.

Please! :-)

I'm not used to using software with such quirky behaviour! (and while we're about it how about giving this forum an English spell checker that can spell! smiley-roll)
2  Development / Suggestions for the Arduino Project / 38400 baud rate breaks ide on: March 09, 2011, 02:59:15 pm
When running Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat with ide 0022 and the Arduino Uno, setting the serial monitor's baud rate to 38400 causes communication between board and computer to fail altogether!
To 'fix' the ide you have to manually edit the preferences.txt file and change baud rate back to 9600.

does an automatic save-all before a build,
That would not be an option that would be dictatorship! It could be usefull to have the option of activating an autosave, but simply saving when you're just experimenting could ruin an otherwise working sketch. Besides, if you compiled one of the examples and the ide tried to save it without asking, it would run into the read-only settings for root!

The basic circuit you will need to build is a high gain amplifier.
I've drawn a simplified version for you, but you'll have to figure out component values yourself. (they depend on which op-amp you use etc.)

I 'bricked' my Uno with one of those example sketches and, following your instructions, I managed to upload the new firmware! smiley-grin
