i was trying to show that arduino isp was exposing my host avr not the target. Anyway i got it working by adding the crystal into the target.

Hi all

I am bit confused. I am using my duemilanove m828p as a programmer. I uploaded the AVRISP example into it and I see the heartbeat.

I am trying to burn a bootloader into an atmega8 in a breadboard without an external clock. by following th instructions here
arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ArduinoToBreadboard

trying the connection in avrdude

sudo avrdude -c avrisp -p m328p -b 57600 -P /dev/cuaU0

avrdude: AVR device initialized and ready to accept instructions

Reading | ################################################## | 100% 0.10s

avrdude: Device signature = 0x1e950f

avrdude: safemode: Fuses OK

avrdude done.  Thank you.

Why am I not seeing my target atemga8?

hi all

excuse me if this is the wrong place to post this.

i am finding the megaisp very useful, but i do most of my coding in openbsd without an arduino IDE. I was wondering if there is pure C version of an ISP? preferably one that works like megaisp.
