i gave up long ago tring to put on a bootloader....i just use the 1.0 IDE hold down control and upload the sketch on it...no need for a bootloader

thanks...i like it

Sorry Nick, I went to your page and found what i needed and more...a lot of good info on your forum....thanks again for your help...gonna have to build that alarm clock
4  Using Arduino / Programming Questions / Re: sending text from 1 arduino to another one with a LCD on: September 21, 2012, 10:10:43 pm
i understand learning C, i just need a couple lines of code to point me in the right direction...I'm almost 65 years old...learning comes slow....i started out with a scott edwards basic stamp 1/LCD kit years ago..it used a PIC chip to serialy control with 1 wire...from a hardware stand do i connect using TX/RX pins?...I just want to enclose the 328 chip and LCD in a case for test purpose's...i will look into I2C Nick...All i asking for is some code to get started....Thank You Guys

been banging my head on the wall and its hurting bad....its probaly simple...So how do i send text from one arduino to another one with a LCD...i have some extra ATMega328 chips and want to sent them up as a serial LCD driver....how can i do this...not to keen on Arduino programming yet of the serial kind...PLEASE...somebody help...Thank You
6  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / Re: current limit resistors on: August 24, 2012, 06:44:27 pm
i just thought if the motor is rated for 160ma..it should get that...the motor gets hot after a while..just trying to cool it down
7  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / current limit resistors on: August 24, 2012, 11:15:12 am
i have a stepper, I'm driving from a ULN2003 ...the stepper is 12volt with 75 ohm windings and its rated at 0.16A...if i put 75ohm resistors on each ULN2003 outputs for the motor,will it limit the current to 0,16A?

9  Using Arduino / Programming Questions / Re: code problem using switch on: August 22, 2012, 11:27:05 am
then how do i fix it?...i don't understand why it works with just the if statements..just trying to learn how to use the switch statement
10  Using Arduino / Programming Questions / code problem using switch on: August 22, 2012, 11:16:22 am
i can't get this part of code to work right....it don't work right with the switch statement, works with the if statements.with the switch statement only led is high is printed on the serial monitor...if i use the if statements alone it works right...what am i doing wrong here.

Code:
void button(){
 btnstate = digitalRead(led);
 Serial.println("ButtonState");
 switch(btnstate){
   case 1:
   if(btnstate == HIGH){
      Serial.print(btnstate);
      Serial.println("= Led is on");
      Serial.println();
      }
      break;
    case 2:
  if(btnstate == LOW){
      Serial.print(btnstate);
      Serial.println("= Led is off");
      Serial.println();
      }
      break;
 }

delay(2000);
}

yep..sometimes its just the simple things that go wrong
13  Using Arduino / Programming Questions / Writing a library question on: August 20, 2012, 01:56:08 pm
i am new at arduino and have this question:when writing a library, how do you define the use of any pins you want to use

example: I have a motor library and i want to use pind10 to drive the motor. or pind2 and so on, how do you do this in the library you write, so you can use any pin you want.
wish i could explain it better, at my age its the best i can do for now.....and thanks to all who helped before.Crossroads thanks for the heads up on the 1284 chip bootload hex file.
14  Development / Other Software Development / Re: Atmel Studio 6 on: August 20, 2012, 01:44:45 pm
i feel your pain...i gave up on it...plus somehow the USB driver in it screwed with my Arduino IDE...so i uninstalled studio6...i don't think the arduino works with it..unless somebody found a way to...i rather just upload a hex file with a USBtiny or any AVR programmer
15  Using Arduino / Displays / Re: lcd with ATmega 644 on: August 20, 2012, 12:54:26 pm
i make a small mistake , i named d1,d2,d3,d4,d5,d6, when 1 should be d0 to d5....but i got 4 lines of garbage on the lcd...i changed to d25,d24,d20,d21,d22,d23 and got nothing.

found the problem, had the row and col on the lcd backwards...works now....now to build a finish board, for my 644 and 1284
