Hi Zack

that error normally means you have some issues with a device connected to your USB port: I got the same when I tried to use two webcams at the same time. What did you connect to the Yun? Only a webcam? Which is its manufacturer/model?
17  Products / Arduino Yún / Upload sketches via web on: February 10, 2014, 03:59:05 pm
Hi!

I've just published my latest project... the idea came from a post by Federico that explained what happened when the IDE uploads a sketch to an Arduino Yun.

I developed a webapp (using PHP) that allows to upload sketches (well, the compiled version of them) on the ATMega32u4:

http://www.lucadentella.it/2014/02/10/yun-sketch-uploader/
(english version available too!)

I found it very useful to update a couple of Yun I left in different locations and connected to the Internet... the webapp is password-protected so no one but you should be able to use it!

Thanks

Hi!

if you need to send messages to the ATMega32u4, the simplest solution is using the Bridge library and send HTTP request like in the following example:

yes don't worry... to be sure run

Code:
ps | grep syslogd

and you'll find it runs with the -C option...

Hi

please note that, for security reasons, many routers do not accept connection to the management interface from the Internet nor they respond to PING (this is a common behavior if a firewall is running on the router).
What it's very strange is that port redirection doesn't work...

Hi BKR,

the Wire library uses the I2C "hardware" peripheral of your board so no changes are required... or I misunderstood your request?
22  Products / Arduino Yún / Re: How to get the sketch running in Arduino Yun to to Web client - on: December 04, 2013, 02:55:45 am
Hi!

Could you explain better your request? Are you trying to connect, from your sketch, to a webpage?
23  Products / Arduino Yún / Re: connect YUN via Internet? on: December 02, 2013, 08:13:40 am
well if you're able to connect to that using a PC in your LAN, the internal firewall is ok... and it can't detect (your router performs a NAT) if the incoming connection is from internet...
24  Products / Arduino Yún / Re: connect YUN via Internet? on: December 02, 2013, 08:08:20 am
mmm probably we're missing something at the router level... try to disable the DMZ feature and leave only the virtual server config...
25  Products / Arduino Yún / Re: connect YUN via Internet? on: December 02, 2013, 03:53:09 am
yes it seems ok... and the local firewall running on Linino can't be the problem if you're able to connect to SSH when in LAN.
mmm are you sure the DynDNS record is updated? Could you try to connect using the public IP of your connection instead of the dynamic DNS record?
26  Products / Arduino Yún / Re: connect YUN via Internet? on: December 01, 2013, 03:06:11 pm
Hi

check the configuration of your router... some routers have a "DMZ" zone but placing a host in that zone is not enough: you must also configure the correct port forwarding and firewall rules to let the incoming packets (to port 22 = SSH) be routed to the host.

Are you trying to redirect the output of the commands you put in the crontab or the log of the cron daemon?
28  Products / Arduino Yún / Re: arduino yun use with icomsat 900 on: November 29, 2013, 04:42:09 pm
Hi

well your library seems to use pin 2 and 3 for communicating with the SIM900 module:

#define _GSM_TXPIN_ 2
#define _GSM_RXPIN_ 3

I agree with Federico: consider the Yun like an Arduino Leonardo... I found several webpages about how to fix compatibility issues between shields and that board, for example this is related to the official GSM shield and can help you:
http://arduino.cc/de/Guide/GSMShieldLeonardoMega

bye
29  Products / Arduino Yún / Re: Yun with Arduino Motor Shield R3 on: November 29, 2013, 04:34:31 pm
Hi / Ciao Stefano,

your doubts are correct: the shield directly connects the input voltage to the VIN pin (in the schematics it is said to keep the voltage below 12V) and when you connect the shield to an Arduino Yun, the same voltage is connected to the VIN pin of the Yun.

But the VIN pin in the Yun is "considered" at 5V (if you see the schematics, page 5, the VIN pin is labeled VDD5V) so yes, I think it could be dangerous!

hi

my suggestion is that, using a Soft i2c library, you can free the "hardware" i2c pins for other uses...
