@jasdall, I don't understand.  Are you trying to help @nickbreetz or are you trying to get help with some problem you are facing?

@Coding Badly since my board is accepting to use the IDE0023, I thought that I could help other at least to use different IDE.

Anyway I am still stuck with my problem. I cant understand whats happening. I tried to play with folders and files but no success. smiley-cry

Thanks
JD

Try a different USB cable.  Then try a different USB port.

Tried these as well but still with the issue.

Changed cable, Changed port, Checked if I am in the good port, Checked if I selected the good board. Burned 3 new chips using arduino mega.

My only concern is how come that the IDE0023 works perfect and the IDE1.0.5 doesnt work on my duemilanove?

Downgraded the drivers also from 2.8.30.0 to 2.8.24.0 and still with the problem.

I dont know what to do anymore and Ive been sending messages here but always the same with the same messages.

Loop back worked also. I am sure that the board is still in working order as it works perfect on the IDE0023.

Someone has faced this issue? Ive seen many posts with the same problem.

I am sure that there is a problem with the IDE 1.0.5 where when I use this IDE 1.0.5 I get the error message but when I use the IDE0023 everything works perfect.

This is something which Ive been trying to solve but with no success.

Download the IDE0023 and I am sure that it will work.

Did you try searching the board? This or similar errors comes up a fair amount of times.

Your Arduino probably has a counterfeit FTDI chip. Windows may have updated the driver, which doesn't seem to work with the counterfeit chips. Download and install an older version of the driver, it worked for me. I bought a couple of Nanos that won't work with the latest driver, but do with the driver downgraded.

Information in this thread:
http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=198681.msg1477473#msg1477473

Ok so the best way is to downgrade the FTDI drivers?

Connect the board to your computer.  Prepare a sketch to upload.  Hold down the reset button on your board.  Click upload in the Arduino IDE.  At the moment the IDE displays "uploading" release the reset button.

To tell you the truth I tried it many times without success.

Anyone experienced this problem on duemilanove? Can someone help?

Getting this when trying to upload a sketch.
Board is Duemilanove w/ 328p
Board passes loopback test.

RX led flashes three times just after "Binary sketch size: 466 bytes (of a 30,720 byte maximum)" message appears.
Pin 13 LED blinks constantly at a rate of around 5 times a second all the time (except when reset switch is pressed)  (or just after the board was connected to PC, in which case it blinks normally for several seconds and then starts blinking rapidly)

Exactly same behavior on with another PC. Nothing is connected to the pins. Worked fine before.

Is there a probability that I damaged the bootloader by something I uploaded before?
Dissentient can you please let me know what have you done step by step? I also have the same problem with the same board and everything except my windows operating system is windows 7.

Drivers are the latest ones with the FTDI site.

I changed the chip to make sure I have a new chip, done a new bootloader using my arduino mega 1280 but still I am getting the same message. I tried many attempts with different methodes as I surfed on the net but no success.

To tell you everything, when I use the IDE 0023 I can upload the sketch without issues example blink but if I use IDE 1.0.5 I will get the message. Can you maybe explain what to do as now I am frustrated. I need this board duemilanove to flash my Turnigy Plush escs using bootlader.

I understand that I had to post my code but this is not matter of codeing. This is matter of drivers which I dont know hoe to repair. Actually to tell you the truth J am uplading the sample blink Led.

Hi I am experiencing the ssme problem. Can anyone guide me how to solve the problem? My board is anrduino duemilanove.

It is very strange when I try to upload a sketch using IDE 0022 everything works as it should but when Iuse the latest IDE 1.0.5 I get the error as mentioned in this subject.

IDK more what to do.

Yes you are right. When I send blink fromm 0022 everything works as it should but when I use the latest IDE 1.0.5 I get the error message. I dont know what is the difference between the 2 IDE's? Something very strange which I cant rectify. Maybe your help will be a miracle :-)
