1  Forum 2005-2010 (read only) / Development / linux USB->MIDI with UART/serial comunication? on: July 26, 2007, 09:52:08 pm
Sorry, if this is a lame question but I couldn't find a clue to that:

I know that linux has a module to recognize MIDI protocol through game port. I remember this module is called "mpu401-UART" or something like this...

could anyone have an idea on how we could do ftdi serial/UART communication beeing recognized as MIDI comunication? Maybe with a trick related to those "serial midi" modules?

(I know softwares like PureData could do that, but could be great if Arduino hardware could interface directly with jackd for example)

Please, links about that would help a lot.

thanks

hello,
Does anyone can give some clue if it is possible to adapting this tutorial:
http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod_documents/doc1456.pdf

to use with atmega168 and arduino?

seems compatible since it uses an avr 8 bit microprocessor. Am I wrong?

thanks
