If you are using MIDI the standard Baud rate is 31250. So use:

Serial.begin(31250;

There is an LCD shield available from NUELECTRONICS in the UK

A video showing various MIDI interfaces working is something I have been thinking about doing. There are already a number of videos of projects on the net from others using my designs. However I should link to them on my website.

Having the other set of pins plugged into the Arduino, for mechanical robustness is a good idea but I wanted to make all the other pins easily accessible.
I could have put the pin labels on the inside of the board but they would have to be smaller text with my present design.
Having the MIDI connectors off the board allows them to be easily mounted in many different types of enclosure.

I have just finished a design for a MIDI shield for the Duemilanove, Mega or Diecimila Arduino. Details are at:

I would be interested in any comments or suggestions.

Thanks for your idea, I have not seen it done this way before.  It is a good solution for adding standard 0.1" prototype boards.

The MIDUINO is a combination of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and the Arduino. The Miduino is a breadboardable Arduino clone.

I have now designed and produced a number of MIDI circuit designs at:

http://tomscarff.110mb.com/index.htm

If anyone is interested in a particular design I would be interested to hear from them.

I have built a number of MIDI circuits using the Arduino IDE which take in MIDI and combine/merge it with intrnally/local created MIDI data from switches or pots. The source code is at:
