1  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / Re: 16 servos with 16 toggle switches on: March 15, 2014, 07:43:43 pm
Thank you for input. I have some more question.  I would like to use double pole single throw switch. One pole goes right and other pole goes left. I assume I will need to use two pins from arduino for each switch. How many pins does arduino n mega has? I don't have mega but I do have  arduino uno. I will not use all servos at the same time. I will use one severo at one time.
2  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / 16 servos with 16 toggle switches on: March 15, 2014, 02:55:09 pm
I would like to know if there is way we can control 16 servos with 16 toggle switches. Each toggle switch for each servo. The switch will be either left at 45 degree or right at 45 degree. Can we do that on Arduino Uno or Mega board? I found some information with push button but I rather to use toggle switch. I need some information on schematic and code for it. I will use it for my HO train.

3  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / Re: Servo with 25 feet telephone wire on: January 28, 2014, 12:56:21 am
Yes I was planning to using flat/silver type wire. Will this work? If not then I will need to buy some wires. I have some network cable which is cat 5. I don't like too many wires.  Another question. I need to move 30 degree cw and 30 degree ccw. Can we use dpdt switch? I don't want to use push button.  I plan to use bipolar led on dpdt on it. Like red for cw or right turn or ccw or left turn. Can we do that? On servo red cable to +5, black cable to gnd, yellow to arduino pin 9,  switch pin 1 to arduino pin 2, switch pin 2 to arduino pin 3.  I will figure out led bipolar  later on switch pin 3 and 4 .  Am I doing right on wire for servo and switch to arduino?

Thanks. I will give a try. I am not sure how do we put capacitor on it. Is there schematic that I can know what I am doing. I don't want to short it out or ruin servo if I am doing wrong.

5  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / Servo with 25 feet telephone wire on: January 21, 2014, 06:43:44 pm
I plan to control ten servos for ho switch tracks. I have lot of
Telephone wires. I was wondering if we can use telephone wire for
Servo to arduino? I think it is about 12 to 15 feet long for each
Servos. I don't plan to run all servos at one time. Also I haven't
Buy servos and arduino yet. I would like to know what kind arduino
And servos to buy and where is good place to buy in USA.
6  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / Old computer power supply on: November 09, 2013, 03:44:12 pm
I have 5 volt stepping motor 28byj-48. Can we use power supply from old computer? I think they at AT or ATX.. I just need 5 volt but not sure how many amps do I need for two stepping motors. I looked at the label on power supply and it has 22 amps on 5 volts. Will that work with stepping motors?

I am looking for driver and stepping motor. Has anyone have use this from eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-DC-5V-Stepper-Motor-ULN2003-Driver-Test-Module-Board-28BYJ-48-for-Arduino/221268196761?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D163%26meid%3D1850073194759818658%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D231048748653%26

I am planning to build v plotter.

8  Using Arduino / Project Guidance / Robot drawing on wall on: October 10, 2013, 07:34:37 am
I would like to build robot drawing on wall or wall plotter. I want to if anyone has build one that could share with me. I have iduino and was not sure it it will work or not. I was thinking to get this stepping motor driver from this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-DC-5V-Stepper-Motor-ULN2003-Driver-Test-Module-Board-28BYJ-48-for-Arduino/221268196761?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D163%26meid%3D1850073194759818658%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D231048748653%26

I wasn't sure if this strong enough to do the job. Also I would like to use g code or cad then download on arduino to draw on it. Can some give idea on this?

9  Using Arduino / LEDs and Multiplexing / 14 segment with register shift on: April 02, 2011, 02:38:37 pm
I have 13 of 14 segment displays on board. I assume we need to add register shift to use 14 segment display. Can someone tell me what kind of register shift should we use and how many register shift do we need for 13 of 14 segment displays? Do we need to add transistor and resistors on it? What kind of transistors and the value on resistors to I need for it? Is there schematic for it?

Lefty,

Wow I did not realized LED on ebay so cheap. Can you share schematic and codes? I might want to build 5x5x5. Also which chips and which value on resistors do you use?

11  Using Arduino / LEDs and Multiplexing / 3x3x3 or 4x4x4 LED cube on: March 21, 2011, 01:04:44 pm
I would like to build a 3x3x3 or 4x4x4 LED cube. I can not find a schematic and codes for it. I have google it and found some which are in www.instructables.com. I am not member of it. I was hope someone could share it with me. Also, I need to know what kind of LED should we use. The cheapest I can find LEDa are in Allectronics.com. Does anyone have use this company before or are there other place that might be cheaper?

12  Using Arduino / LEDs and Multiplexing / Re: 16 segment LED with 74LS154 on: March 17, 2011, 04:29:48 pm
John,

Thank you for let me know. I am learning. Should we use different chip for it? What about 74HC164 shift register? Can we use other chips which are easier? I was google and try MAX 6954. I am not sure about it?  I was hope someone can give me a simple way to use 12 of 16 segments LEDs. I am open for any suggestions.

I have 12 of 16 segments LEDs. I would like to use all of them. Can we use 74ls154 (4 line to 16 decoder) with 16 segments LED. Each segments will have thier own transistor. Will that work?

14  Using Arduino / Motors, Mechanics, and Power / What kind of servos for hexapod walk? on: February 22, 2011, 04:01:03 pm
I would like to build hexapod walk or biped robot. I am looking for servos. I am not sure what kind of servos do you recommend? How strong do I need it for Hexapod or bidped? How many oz in? The only thing I know is to get hitec and make sure they are metal gears. Does anyone know where I get bulk servos for cheap price?

15  Using Arduino / Microcontrollers / Re: Could not get iDuino working on: February 21, 2011, 09:26:23 pm
I pull ic (atmel) out and use the volt meter to make sure I got the right one then I put it back and follow up to test it. It works. So I use blink program and now it is working. Yeah! Now I can use it with LED displays. Thank you for your help.
