Topic: joystick and wireless control? (Read 607 times) previous topic - next topic

hello,

I am just currently getting into arduino and I was wondering is it possible if I can plug a joystick into my computer and wirelessly control the arduino over a wireless network? Do I need to download software that will recognize the joysticks? Do I need other software to send the joystick values over a wireless signal?

if any one can help me out that would be GREAT!

thanks
Dillan

It is possible, but quite a programming feat to get it to work. I had to write my own server code with individual threads to handle the joystick, keyboard, and the persistent network connection. I used Linux for the server and a Logitech Attack3 joystick.

Once the server works ok, the Arduino part is simple.

edit: There are two reasons I will not post the server code.
1) I was compensated financially for it.
2) It makes this Arduino a very dangerous device.
